Early childhood years.

I can remember when my older sister turned 16 (she's 7 yrs older than me). My mother was going to let her drive home and I started freaking out. Threatened to get out and walk because I didn't want her to drive over the big bridge we had to cross to get home.

I'd say early childhood. I know I was getting a lot of stomach aches around age 9-10, and remember hiding in the closet or the toy chest when I was really little. Not hiding for play, just hiding. In my early teens I used to break out in hives all over, and we never found an allergy or any trigger for it, so I'm thinking now it was anxiety. But then I had some good years in my 20s and most of my 30s - it's only now in my late 40s that I've had real debilitating anxiety. A buildup, maybe? Hugs, AJ

I was 29. It was after I had my second child.

I recall being a nervous kid. Even when I was very little. In my elementary school years, I was forever counting things. I remember counting cracks in the sidewalk & getting frustrated when my count would be interrupted. There was a compulsion to begin the count again):

I had my first panic attack when I was 17. It was during the senior class play in the auditorium of my HS. The fear of illness(mostly heart attacks)

I have been very nervous/anxious since I was in early childhood. I was not aware of an actual problem other than myself being "sensitive" until I was in my first year of University.

I used to have regular panic attacks when I was in highschool, but they were not acknowledged as such. My actual panic attacks have calmed down since I have spent time learning some coping mechanisms, but I still haven't been able to get rid of that all the time feeling of worry/dread/anxiety.

Take care,
El
