bad day

TOday I had a really bad day. Actually it all started last night. I have been doing better with the paxil and actually had a great weekend for once. Last night I was on the phone with my mom when all of a sudden I got really dizzy. It hit me like a wave and it concerned me because it was not the "normal" dizziness I feel with a panic attack. I sat down and was alright after a few seconds, however I started thinking something was terribly wrong with my. So I was anxious and panicky the rest of the night. Then this morning my biggest fear was what if the same thing happened to me at work .I was s wreck this morning, but managed to make it through work. I feel a little calmer now, but am still worried.
I am actually switching doctors and have an appointment with another doctor closer to where I live this weekend. My soon to be husband has gone to her and really likes her. I ahve just not been happy with my current doctor. Anyhow, I am primarily going to her because I have been having digestive issues. All I can say is that I have looked up info on IBS and think I may have that. Anybody else have issues like this?

I am so glad I have found this board!! Any advice or reassurance sould be greatly appreciated right now.

(((Magen))) I can relate to what you felt & the *what ifs* that follow. I have always felt my panic was some awful disease during the attack & for a couple of days after. I have learned to cope better with these thoughts, but it is hard to stop this thinking when the fear & symptoms are soooo real):

Good luck with the new dr. Let us know how it goes. IBS is stress/anxiety related. My fear of having to use the toilet during outings put a limit on my trips away from home. But, there is help with meds, therapy & simple dietary changes that the dr. can help you with. So nice to see you again. We care about you & hope you'll get a handle on this anxiety soon. Don't forget chat tonight! jan

I went to the new Dr. today and I liked her a lot. She seems to think that I may have a problem with my thyroid. One thing that made me a little nervous is that she said my reflexes are off. Probably nothing to worry about, but of course I fear the worst. Had to get a bunch of blood work done, hoping ewverything comes back ok :-) I just want to feel like myself again .
Aside from all of this I have been having problems at work. I have a degree in communications, however cannot find a job in that field. I have work at a bank, a daycare and a cell phone store in the meantime. Right now I am working at a credit union, which I did love at the beginning. The problem is, ever since I missed a week in december due to reactions from changing medications I have been miserable there. I got written up even though I had doctors excuses and I wish I had stood up for myself more. SInce then I have felt that I just cannot get back into their good graces. My review in October was excellent, but I was told in December that things had changed that I had a bad attitude, etc. So I have been working my behind off trying to show them I am a good worker, which I am and I cannot beleive I doubt myself. However , I just found out my coworker, who started after me , got a raise. We were both told in October that raises would be given after January 1 of this year. I know I should say something, but I get hte feeling my manager already does not like me. So I am back to job searching again. That is the short less detailed version of the story . I just want a job where 1.) I am using my college education and 2.) I actually enjoy and want to go to every day . I am just super frustrated at the moment.

Thanks for listenting to me vent . I feel better already

Hey Magen!! i just want you to know that you are not alone, and we are here for you!! And i can tell you from personal experience that i have had alot of dizziness, usually when i have my period, and my anxiety gets worse from my period too. How long have you been on the Paxil? Because it could just be a side effect from that as well...are you just on the Paxil or are you on something like Xanax as well for the anxiety? I don't know alot about antidepressants except side effects that they have caused on me unfortunetly I cant tolerate any of them, but it could be a side effect that you are having I would ask your doctor. Another suggestion I would give you is to find a good psychiatrist/and therapist to work with too instead of just your regular doctor...they are the experts with this stuff and can probably suggest other things as well like group therapy and things to help you cope. Another thing I always tell people to is to get some medical testing done...make sure there is nothing wrong with your thyroid or your adrenal glands, because those can cause alot of problems like anxiety and whatnot and there are things to help those as well...your medical doctor can do these tests...i have adrenal gland problems and chronic fatigue syndrome and I see a naturopath for these instead of a medical doctor because im sensitive to meds, and a naturopath will also focus more on nutrition and supplementation to help than just meds. But dizziness, especially around that time of the month seems to be very common, but I understand about freaking out about it lol believe me...i get really tense when i have a bad day with the chronic fatigue, but i have learned to do things that relax me....deep breaths help alot, any kind of music that relaxes you....for along time i carried around this huge blanket that my gramma made me to feel secure, and im 27 years old lol...but whatever comforts you is the best thing to do when you are feeling frazzled, and if you like tea then chamomile tea is a great way to relax...i actually like the Celestial Seasonings chamomile and the honey chamomile green tea is great too. but you are not alone, and we are here to support you and help!!! but keep your chin up, and consider having those medical tests done, and it does get better...come to our chats on tues and thurs if you can!! it helps alot and we have a good laugh too :) much hugs and luv

Hi Magen We have a lot in common--- I take Paxil and love it!
I have taken it for a long time like 25 years now---
I have stomach problems OH YES!! I have celiac disaese which took a LONG
time to figure out by the docs! First one said food allergies so I stopped
eating all sorts of things but not wheat!! Then it was ulcerative colitis which
went away by the time of my lower GI!!!!! GOOD LORD I was sure it was something
At the age of 38 I had my gallbladder removed there was ONE HUGE STONE IN THERE!
My 9 yr old daughter- at the time--- also had hers removed the same YEAR!
THEY THOUGHT WE WERE PASSING A BUG BACK AND FORTH!!!! SOME BUG NOT!
Later I still had pain in the belly mixed pooping either diareeah or constipated!!
THEY did a scope into small intestine and found I have Celiac Disease---
no GLUTEN which is found in all grains and used as a filler for many common things!
Soooooooooo on the diet I went! WELL IT IS TOO HARD TO STAY ON IT! soooooooo
I get anemic and bellya aches etc etc!! There is now a simple blood test for
CELIAC disease! So many people have it now they are producing products without GLUTEN!
YAY!!! THAT HELPS I am on the diet again for the 1,000th time!!!!! LOL
my belly blows up like a balloon when off the diet! GOT TO LOOK GOOD FOR THE CASINO
TOMORROW!!!! Plus I had a bad bladderinfection the last 2 weeks--- my resistance is
low!! THIS TIME I WILL STAY ON THE DIET =0) I HAVE TO!!!!
the dizzy thing I have had like you are going to fall over like you are moved quickly
is how I have felt that was my inner ear problem from allergies!!! YUCK!
I am a walking nightmare hahaha!! I HOPE I DID NOT SCARE YOU!!!!!!
TAKE CARE and change doctors it won't hurt anything! and they might be better!!HUGS! Judy
