Hi

I posted a few message quite some time ago and you were all wonderful in your support that you gave me.

I'm hoping for those wonderful words to help me past the hurdles I have right now

I know there are many stresses in my life right now and the way I look at them and think about them is really the root of the stress and anxiety

The constant worrying and over thinking is a problem that I'd like some suggestions on.

In a month I have to travel to a large city about 3 hours away (driving myself) to a place I don't know where it is located to present my side in a mediation meeting.

Can we say yikes!!

I'm likely as prepeared as I can be but I can seem to stop worrying and over thinking

I feel like a little kid picking a scab ( sorry for the imagery but that is the best way I can describe it)

I really have not been in your situation but, I can say is try and stay positive (I know that is hard to do!) and know that you are confident in what you do!! Positive thinking has helped me along with the belly breathing (that I just learned actually!) and I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayer's!

Hi! It's nice to see you again. It's much appreciated that you remembered us & have returned for support.

All of us know what it's like to be facing a stressful event. It can produce alot of *what if* thinking. I know I am guilty of borrowing trouble. I try to keep things in perspective. Drawing from past experience, I know that the catastrophe I imagine, rarely if ever comes. Being prepared is a great plan! Kudos to you for taking action.

Can you make a trip or two to the location where your mediation will be held? Perhaps take a friend along for moral support? I always do better when I have the route planned. There's no surprises & it reduces my fear/anxiety.

Please join us in chats on Tues. & Thurs. evenings. Watch for the posts. Also, check out the *coping tips & tricks* folder below. There's good info on how to worry more effectively. GL & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

Ugh, I have been there. I was totally obssessing about something when my anxiety was high. It was something I had little to no control over. So I wrote down what I was obsessing about, why, and then a few action steps I could take to deal with the problem. It helped me stop obsessing - I got it out of my head and onto paper. I didn't even take most of the action steps (LOL) but it made me feel better and more in control.

Dear Test,

Though the war be not over, I am indeed winning skirmish after skirmish; battle after battle - for "if God b e with me, who can stand against me ?" certainly not these hells they call anxiety, depression, panic, and phobia. I mock them - paradoxical in

Thanks for all of the suggestions

Staying overnight isn't something I fell comfortable with. (Being away from home is currently an issue for me)

However, dh & I are going past this city this week and he has agreed to drive me to the meeting site so I'm more prepared when I drive there next month.

I'm always more comfortable if I know the place I'm going to. Although I'm somewhat directional challenged, I always like driving myself in these situations (control issues)

I"m going to call them to ensure they have onsite parking so I'm not caught by surprise and then have to try a parking lot in a very large city and still find my way back to the building. I think I'll ask the average time for a meditiation meeting.

So.. for now, I'll be able to get my dh to drive me there on a "test" run and I'm going to print out detailed directions to and from the location and I know I'll take my map book and a cell phone with lots of time on it.

Oh and of course, I'm practicing my belly breathing

Thanks again
