I voted a combination. I always begin to belly breathe, repeat my positive affirmations & pray. If I can focus well enough, I do the progressive relaxation. Back in the day, if I panicked, I would call for an ambulance or drive myself to the hospital, but I haven't done that for a very long time!
Anymore takers? jan

I pray, take my RX Klonopin, talk to DH and call my father.
Generally as soon as I feel a panic attack coming on I start talking to myself internally if necessary, but out loud if I'm alone, just because it helps to hear my own voice. I tell myself that I know what this is, it's recognizable as a panic attack. I tell myself the reasons why I am having a panic attack and that I have every reason to be stressed out, but that a panic attack is not going to help me because it will only leave me feeling worn and terrible for at least a day. After a few minutes of talking myself down, as well as some deep breathing, and just trying to make myself relax, I often can talk myself out of a panic attack.
I have also come a loooong way with coping. It's great to see steady progress is taking back my life.
