Just had a thought....... do you guys know if someone is able to take medication for anxiety/panic during pregnancy and then come off about a month before giving birth in order to breast feed? Does that make sense? Or is it a silly thought?

It's not a silly question, Nanci. But, you have to understand that questions like that can only be answered by your dr. It isn't easy to make changes in your meds during pregnancy. There is a reduction schedule you would need to follow to avoid unpleasant side effects. Also, there is a chance of rebound anxiety or relapse. That is why it is so important to see your dr. & be equal partners in your care. GL & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

Thanks very much for yor input and it will be something I will ask the doctor about for sure.
I have taken medication in the past, so I do know (hate it) about weaning off and stuff like that...just wanted to see if there was anyone here who has done that before.

Thanks

Hi Nanci, definitely talk to your doc about it.

I just wanted to update you guys. I went to the doctor (not the OB), one I have never been to but covers for my family doc.
She said the best was to get back on the Effexor. I am starting on 37.5mg and then 75mg and see what happens.
I can't go on with the anxiety. I can't even remember feeling good when I feel like crap! My sis-in-law says I was doing really well on the medication (funny how I can't remember the good feelings??!).
So I am going to give the 37.5 a try for a week (started Sunday) and move up to 75 and see what happens by the end of the month when I see the OB.

I am so scared. I have moments where I feel perfect! All the bad thoughts I had go away and I think they were so silly to let bother me.....when the anxiety hits again, they all come back.....this is normal with anxiety right??

Absolutely normal, Nanci! You will be fine. Just take it as it comes & don't allow the thoughts to run away with you. Keep busy. Find some balance by using your interests to distract you. Effexor is a great med. It was one of the best meds for me when I was panicking many times daily. It really slowed those thoughts. GL & GBU! (((hugs))) jan
