Caffeine Free Start

Hi Folks,

So I was reading an article (I believe it was linked from this board, but I know that I don't have it anymoe), and it said that anxiety can be made worse or can be affected by different things that you eat, and they emphasized caffeine.

So here I am with my decaf tea... which doesn't taste like regular tea, but if it's going to ease the anxiety a bit, then I'm thinking it may just be worth it.

Do you think that it has made a difference for your anxiety?

I feel really good today, but I'm not sure if it's a fluke.

I have noticed a big difference in my anxiety since decreasing my caffeine intake. Back in the day, I started with 2 cups of regular coffee. I admit that it took me awhile to make the connection between the java & my edginess & inner quivering. One day I took a sudafed for allergies on top of my coffee & it was panic city. That was the last time I pulled a stunt like that, as my mother would say;)

I occasionally have a half cup of regular coffee but am a confirmed tea junkie. I have good luck with decaf green & white teas, Elizabeth. In fact, I sort of consider myself a tea connossieur. Try Harney & Sons or The Republic of Tea online. Even Celestial Seasonings & Lipton have some good stuff in their webstores that I can't find in the local grocery. HTH, buddy. We'll have you drinking the unleaded & lovin' it in no time, gf.

I'm with you! I was laughing at the grocery store today - I was buying soda with no sugar or caffeine, decaf tea and alcohol free beer. LOL What a wild woman.

I like the Twinings decaf breakfast tea. Bigelow has some decaf teas that are okay too. Their Vanilla decaf tea is delicious. I had Mighty Leaf Earl Grey decaf tea at a restaurant once and that was really good. Here is a link. It's expensive, but tastes great.

I think cutting down on caffeine does help. I miss though!!!!! I had a diet Coke the other day when I was at a Burger King with my kids and it tasted soooooo good.

*giggle*

Your grocery list is wonderful. This thread has been really great knowing that I'm not the only person who is making these little changes to try to proactively control my anxiety a little bit more. Although I've had a headache today which I think is probably because of the lack of caffeine, I haven't been feeling my normal jittery anxiety to the same extent. I think that the headaches will go away once my body gets used to the fact that it is on a caffeine hiatus! lol.

Thanks Jan! I've been getting some great advice about the "unleaded".

I really like herbal teas in different flavours, but I never have had them as a "morning" tea. I was hoping that the normal decaf tea would make me feel more normal in the morning, but I think that I should just go all the way and have teas with more flavour as a morning wakeup. I'll have to rely on the flavour instead of the caffeine taste to wake me up, lol.

I had a wicked headache for a day or two when I quit caffeine. But I was in the midst of anxiety, insomnia, panic attacks, so I didn't know what end was up! After 2 days the headaches were gone.
