well...tyler, my 2 1/2 year old, is really sick...he woke up wednesday at 3 am and couldn't breath, so we rushed him to the ER and it turns out to be croup (a virus that causes a really bad cough/fever/ flu like symptoms)...anyways, he got some meds and seemed to be doing better on thrusday, but then friday woke up with a fever of 103, and it hasn't come down dispite giving him tylonal and meds from the doc...he's soooo listless and lithargic, he can't do anything but cough, he won't eat/drink/sleep/play....

he just coughs and crys all day...

i'm super scared he's going to give this horrible virus to the baby...

in the mean time..my throat is kinda sore, i'm not able to get out and exercise (which is the ONLY thing i do) and i'm stuck in the house with sick kiddo, and my anxiety is through the roof...again...

i can't stop obsessing about how anxious i am again:(

sigh....

i can't deal w/sick kiddo's and my anxiety!:(

(((Heather))) I am very sorry to hear this. It is difficult to cope with sick kids, especially when they're yours & you have anxiety. Please be kind to yourself. Having raised two *croupy* kids I know that cough & how disturbing it can be. I am sure that in a few days, Tyler will be right as rain. Kids always seem to

Heather,
I'm sorry you're feeling more anxiuos. I know my son (age 14) is sick a lot & while it doesn't make me panic all the time, I feel lousy b/c nothing I do makes him better. I do get paranoid of catching it b/c I am afraid to be sick. Just try to focus on the fact that you did get him to a dr. & he is taking his meds to recover. As far as the baby is concerned, try to stay positive. If he is going to get it, you (unfortunately) have no control over it. So try not to stress yourself out over something you have no control over. I know this is easier said than done--I am well aware of it! What I try to do is tell myself that only God controls some things whether I like it or not & I have to trust that He knows what He is doing. Hoping for a quick recovery.

Heather the CROUP is NASTY!!! I remember the lack of control

Heather, I know exactly what you are going through. Both of my kiddos used to get croup every winter. I can tell you what helped for them. A cool mist humidifier around them all day and night. Sitting in bathroom with a hot shower running for those really bad episodes. Try getting him to eat warm chicken noodle soup and give him popsicles. These things did make a difference for us! As far as your baby getting it, the only thing you can do is wash your hands alot and keep Tyler away from the baby! Good luck, and remember, it only lasts 3-5 days.

Take care!

Candace

P.S. Good to hear from you. I've been doing great!

Oh, I get so worried when one of my babies is sick, and mine are 6 and 10! It's even worse when they're so little.

I hope he feels better soon. And you too! Take care.
