Well I read that & thought I best retire from work, I have hardened up over the years & dont respond to poor me poems & letters. I myself prefer a more personal touch one on one contact even if via a web site posting board.
Molly I have to disagree with the letter although it is ALL TRUE it is just a bit pityful. And advice & education far outways a soap story becuase we each have our own. And in MY OWN opinion there are "health sufferers" and "health Sufferers". I would much prefer to be a part of a group which takes RA head on faces its day to day challenges in a positive frame of mind. And learning to live with the changes this disease makes in our lives, not just living a life of arthritis, & begging in a letter form not to be excluded from life ???? please. ( but then again I am trying out my new contact lenses for the first time and I may juts have read it all wrong...each to his own ) YEp I am a hard woman.
Lell, early on, someone told me that you can have RA, or it can have you. Admittedly, I have had to make some changes in my life because of RA, but they turned out to be good changes. In many cases, I think it is our own attitude that affects how others treat us. And, perhaps I am old enough to have reached the point where I really don't care what people think--one of the good things about growing older, perhaps?
I AGREE WITH YOU 100% ABOUT THIS LETTER. WHEN I READ IT, I WAS THINKING THAT MAYBE MOST PEOPLE WITH ANY AUTOIMMUNE DISORDER OR ANY SERIOUS MEDICAL PROBLEMS
Ah Rosemary, that was an interesting post. Your friend certainly gave you the best advice ever. And for one I think that is a great motto to live by..."you can have RA or it can have you." and that can really be applied to any problems or challenges that come into our lives. You certainly have a way with posting, for myself I have always been blunt & straight to the point, no beating around the bush here, as my brotherinlaw often says, everyone else just digs around with a spade, and I just get the shovel & just go wack. I would rather bark than wimper. And if I need things done for me at home or work, I just say I am have a bit of pain today can you do this for me please...and that is why I love this board because I can complain here and not allientate my friends & family with the poor me bit. PS The girls at worked kindly asked me would I like to joinup to play netball with them, my reply was thanks for asking but I dont feel the need to break my wrists just yet. Besides a heart attack would kill me on the court before my RA would. lell.
Actually Molly, I'd like to take that letter and ram it right down the throat of every person who asked me if I've ever tried Advil for my arthritis. So There!
