I got an email message from my pharmacy (Walgreens) that Humira is currently out of stock.

It's okay - I called the pharmacy and they have the Humira on automatic refill but someone else took it.

You know, I think we are all becoming conditioned to drug-related hassles. Those of us on MTX have jumped through all kinds of hoops--to say nothing of trying to obtain flu vaccine last fall. It's ridiculous. Want to know how ridiculous? Well, I'll tell you anyway. My pharmacy finally obtained an order of MTX for me. I have been getting it through a "compounding" pharmacy--for which my insurance company won't pay. But that's another story. Anyway, they obtained a box of 10 vials which together add up to 50 ml of MTX or 5 ml in each vial. They are preservative free which means that what is not used from one injection taken from one vial must be discarded. So, I am throwing away 4.4 ml of MTX each week. And there's a SHORTAGE? The shortage is a shortage of common sense on the part of the company packaging the drug. Because it is preservative free, it all has to be used once the vial is punctured. I haven't been able to come up with a group of people that can meet once a week for a needle party. I'm going to try my doctor's office to see if they can come up with an idea.

Oh, another thing--the insurance company that wouldn't pay for a compounding pharmacy (which was very inexpensive as drugs go), did not blink an eye at paying five times as much for MTX to throw away!

AAAARRRGGHH!

Molly, I use to be on Paxil. I switched to Zoloft a few years back. It has worked just as well for me. You may need a letter of "Medical Necessity" from your doctor, so that your insurance will pay for it.
