WILL YOU GET A FLU SHOT THIS YEAR?
- Yes
- No (can you tell us why?)
- Not Sure (any specific reason?)
You will be able to change your vote.

The last two years both my internist and my rheumatologist insisted on it. I also got a pneumonia shot the year before last.
My question, will your family recieve one? My dh (he's an oncologist and he needs to protect his patients). But, should I have my kids get one?
Kathy
Kathy, I always get a flu shot and have for the past 5 years.

I have been getting them for years since my immune system is shot to hell.
I voted yes. As a pediatric RN I am exposed to all sorts of things in the office, including flu and RSV. not only do I have psoriatic arthritis and Sjogrens syndrome for which I take Enbrel and Methotrexate, I also have moderately severe asthma/allergies. So all three doctors I see, rheumatology, allergy and my internist recommend I get the flu shot each year. I also took the pneumovax vaccine a couple years ago at their recommendation.
Our pediatric practice requires all staff have an up to date DT. I had that back in 2001 when I started there. In 2006 I'll have to get the new DTaP for adults. (Last year we had a bad pertussis outbreak in Cook County IL so the new vaccine is mandatory to replace the old DT).
I am not going to get the new Meningitis (Menactra) shot unless my practice requires employees to get it, although several of the doctors have already immunized themselves with it. With the above vaccines on board, I feel the less I have to tweak my immune system the better.
Hi again, Olddrei!
