Disabled Placecard

I know this has come up before but just wondering how many people use disabled placecards?

I have always been to chicken, stubborn, scared, etc... to ask for one and never really thought I needed one. But on Monday I acutally had to call in sick to work because there was no way I was going to make it walking. Then my friend needed me to show him where the mall was on a quick errand so I agreed to go. HUGE mistake. I have never before wanted to have the privalige of parking close. Luckily we were there during the day and it wasn't too crowded.

I guess I'm just at my wits end. You know every so often when you hit that wall and say "RA go jump in a lake cause I'm sick of you!!!!!" Yeah... that's about how I feel right now.

Thanks for listening.
Jen

I too was hesitant for being known as "disabled", but it has been a Godsend. I don't use it all the time, but when those bad flare up days are here, it sure comes in handy. My doc had no problem authorizing the card from MV. GO FOR IT !

I finally broke down and got a disabled placecard a couple of years ago. I am so glad I did. I am trying to put off this right hip replacement as long as I can, as I am not a candidate for the new procedure due to overweight and asthma, and I just can't afford to take the time off work the old procedure requires (I'm the family breadwinner due to dh disabled due to severe epilepsy.) Plus I have prolapsed lumbar and sacral discs. So it really hurts to walk any distance at all....I hobble like a 90 year old woman sometimes. That placard really helps.

Yes Jen, I have one and am happy I got it. I don't always use it but there are days when my back and ankles hurt so much that I can hardly walk. I felt the same way as you about asking for one but a friend talked me into it when I found out the only place to park where she lived on the beach would be at least a half mile away unless I had a placard. I went to my doctor the next day, got the form signed off and went to the AAA and got it issued to me on the spot.
