No Prednisone...

GP won't rx Prednisone...but he called in Cataflan...anyone know anything about it? Is it any better than Lodine? Lodine is doing absolutely SQUAT for my inflammation or pain...I hate to keep spending money I don't have on meds that won't work! UGH! But I'm in so much pain all the time, I need something!
Any info is appreciated!!!!
Thank and many hugs!
Keli

I don't know WHY he wouldn't give me the Prednisone...I asked for it specifically...he's a GP though, and not the Rheumy...I can't get in there until January or February of next year!
I just don't know what to do...do I keep getting these stupid NSAIDs that aren't doing anything but making me sick? do I just stay in pain and wait it out? does it go away? i am so tired...of the pain...it moves, i think...my hands and wrists ALWAYS hurt...but yesterday it was my neck and shoulders and elbows...today add my ankles...last night my legs ached so badly i couldn't sleep...so i was soooo tired this morning and in so much pain i was late for work by an hour and a half...if the fatigue would ease up, it would be easier...
I took 2 Aleve this morning...got up, came to work...and I just deal with the pain...I know I can't just lay down and let it beat me...but my God, its so hard sometimes...and nobody GETS IT!!! They just have NO idea!
Sorry to go off on a tangent like that...I just really am so frustrated...
Hugs,
Keli
Hi Keli.
Molly
So sorry to hear about all your pain. A few weeks after I gave birth (10 mo. ago), my RA flared like never before. Every week, it seemed to spread to a new joint and I was in so much pain and so frustrated (so I totally feel for you). Prednisone was like a miracle drug for me....in just a few hours, I felt like a new person.
But getting back to your dilemma. First, can you contact your insurance company or go on their website and find out other rheumatologists in your area that may be able to fit you in earlier. Then call the office and have them do another referral. If they refuse, find another physician...you can always switch back if you have an issue permanently switching.
There is no reason to suffer like this. The only reason I did for so long was that I didn't know Prednisone was compatible with breastfeeding at the time and I refused to give that up.
Hi again, Keli!

Hi Keli,
Sorry to hear you are going through so much trouble with you drs. I think we here can all relate to the troubles you run into when you are first dxed. It also has taken most of us a few drs to find the one we are happy with. It took me two years to be dxed and four years after that to find a dr that would treat me. (I was only 16 when I was dxed.)
I think you mentioned that your ins only covers one rhemy, right? Have you tried asking to be put on a waiting list? So if an appt time opens up they will call you? Maybe try calling every week and asking if anything has become available.
Could you try asking your GP for a cortisone shot? He might feel more comfortable with that. My rhemy gave me one and I felt so much better after that. Although my booty was a little tender...
Don't give up!!
Smiles, Jen
