WOW!!! You should have heard all of the colorful words coming from my mouth yesterday!!!
So, after my breif relapse in taking my medication I have decided I need to start up again. So last week I called to refill my Humira. It was supposed to get delivered on Friday. Friday morning I get a call saying the are mailing it Friday for Saturday delivery. Good thing they called because I normally get it sent to work. I gave them my new home address since I was going to be home all day Saturday.
Saturday comes and goes and I completly forgot I was supposed to get my delivery. I'm not used to getting it delivered at home. So yesterday I called to confirm that it wasn't sent and when I should be getting it. I was first told it would be sent out then for the next day... a red flag came up... so I asked why it wasn't sent on Friday. Then I was told it WAS sent on Friday. The tracking number shows that FedEx tried delivering it Saturday but I wasn't home and the office was closed. What a line of crap!!! I was home all day and our office was open. So, I confirmed that it was delivered on Tuesday to my office (my leasing office) but FedEx did not leave me a message telling me they delivered it to another location. What a mess.
So my pharmacy told me I had to call Abbott to ask if the med was still good and if not ask for a replacement. Well, it wasn't ok and they wouldn't replace it. So I called the pharmacy back and they said they wanted to charge my insurance again. What a mess!!! And FedEx won't pay because they don't insure the packages. Stupid...
Anyhow, after many calls and much stress on my part, the pharmacy replaced my Humira.
Moral of the story... don't run out of my meds and don't forget when it supposed to be delivered!!!
Signing off to go inject myself...

OH DEAR, JEN, THAT SOUNDED LIKE A "WHO'S ON FIRST" TALE.

Just a little outta towner question....Dont you just go to your pharmacy to pick up your medication. Here our PBS (which includes the enbrel on an authorised script ) just gets filled by my chemist when I want it. He orders it in and I collect and pay for it.
Maybe with you doing things a bit different over there would it be possible to get your injection medication delivered to your pharmacy ? that way it would be looked after till you got it ? Lell. ( excuse me if this is a bit dumb )

Not a dumb question at all. I used to get my Enbrel filled at my local pharmacy. When I switched to Humira my rhemy gave me a number to call to get it delivered. I actually usually like it better because they call and remind me when I'm due for a delivery.
This was only the 2nd time I had problems getting it delivered. Not bad since I've been taking it well over a year now.

What a mess, Jen! Thank goodness you kept up a good fight and they paid for it. I am sorry you had to go through all that stress.
Hugs,
Vicki
Lell, that is exactly how I do my rxs. I refill monthly and they keep a spare of Enbrel on hand for me. Of course, I pay dearly for the Enbrel.
How are you feeling?
Hugs,
Vicki
I am feeling fine thanks Vicki, the infection in my foot is nearly healed and i just have a nice little fine scar along my wrist. I am enjoying my holidays my RA makes a hell of a difference when I do nothing, just totter around the house. Yes I need to win the lotto now so I can retire. lell
PS How much does your enbrel cost ? Ours is governement subsidy and I pay $28/month. ( around 35.USD i think . Our government is still having discussions here with the big pharaceutical companies and they are try to convince the public to follow the US model...Which is best for the drug companies ??????? or us? lell
Jen, sorry to hear about your medication mess. I think it isn't all that unusual.
My Enbrel was always delivered by a messenger service which sometimes showed up on the day it was scheduled and sometimes not and the messenger would just leave it outside the door, never even ringing the bell. It was really frustrating and numerous complaints to the pharmacy supplier did nothing. Once they sent it FedEx and the guy rang the doorbell once and started to walk away when I didn't open it immediately! I caught him as he was in the truck starting to pull away from the curb. I guess they think you sit at the door all day just waiting for them and don't you dare go into another room for anything.
Now I just found out from the pharmacy supplier that my previous HMO contractor won't cover my Enbrel and I had to get it re-authorized AGAIN from Cigna. Got that done and called the supplier, left several phone messages for a delivery and no one called me back. Finally I asked for a supervisor who checked my file and said they don't work with Cigna directly and I have to order from Cigna's pharmacy. When I asked why no one bothered to call me back and tell me this she said probably because I was no longer covered by their supplier. Very confusing. So I called Cigna to find out how to order and they said they'd call my doctor for the Rx and then contact me for a delivery date. Again...no one called me back. At the doctor's today they said no one from Cigna called them so they gave me an Rx script to mail in to Cigna. I hope this one goes through. Why is this all so confusing and complicated? Is customer service absolutely dead in this country? How hard is it to deliver a package on a scheduled date to the correct address?
I am considered a level 2 risk, meaning higher risk. My insurance will only pay 70% of my medical bills. I am not exactly sure on my rxs as to what the rule is. After my deductible is met, my Enbrel costs me $378.37 a month. I can barely afford it, but it makes a big difference for me. It is ridiculous that it costs this much. I have been on it for about 6 years. I wish it would go generic!!!! Wash my mouth out, Enbrel will stop selling it to me for that comment!!! LOL
Hugs,
Vicki
