Well, they told us yesterday and last night that we would have about a foot of snow by the time we got up this morning, and it really started coming down about 9:00 last night. However, what do they know? When will people stop trying to predict mountain weather. Turns out the low pressure system that they thought would bring on the upslope condition and give Denver snow ended up further south than they thought, so the southern and especially southeastern plains got dumped on. We had maybe 2-3 inches of snow in the city and up to a foot in the foothills. However, 20 miles east of the city, they got lots of snow.
It was three years ago today that we got a REAL blizzard--the third highest amount of snow in the shortest time in Denver's history. I recall it took us four days before we got out of our subdivision.
Here in Northern New Mexico, we had our first snow of the winter on the first day of spring! It's been sooooo dry here, fire season is already in progress. Our local ski area never even opened this year. Last year we had a big snow storm in March that gave us TWO snow days in a row.
