Hi Tziporah,

I am so sorry that this is such a belated welcome to you. I've been absent from the board for nearly a month - so many things have been happening in my life that it was difficult to also come here. The good news is that life has somewhat calmed down (but I'm still crossing my fingers and my toes), which means that I'm back on iVillage.

I am so very happy to see you here, participating and sharing in our conversations! I hope that we'll get to know each other better in the coming weeks.

Welcome again!

(PS: I love the sound of your name!)

Hi Karen, Cleaning out the overloaded email box. So I just saw this message now. Re: Explaining yourself, being defined by just one characteristic. Didn't understand the example you used--Michael Fox. Please explain. Also glad you had an experience like mine at the wedding. Most weddings just bore me and I skip them totally. Let my husband represent us. Tziporah

Hi Karen, Still working through the emails. JFK--the thing that sticks with me from watching the footage of it now is the commentary-- they mentioned somewhere that the day of JFK's funeral was John Jr.'s third birthday and that Jackie didn't cancel his birthday party. After the funeral, she joined her 3-year-old son. I can't even imagine what I would have done in a situation like that: go ahead with the birthday party, cancel it, or whatever. Anyway, everybody said and still says she was an incredible example of poise at the time. I was eight when it happened and I remember it very clearly. Ditto for RFK and Martin Luther King. At this rate--I'm not getting anything done workwise. I guess I could say cleaning out my email is "work". laugh. Tziporah

Hi Tziporah,

You sound in good spirits in spite of the moodyness the lack of meds is causing.

Hi Karen, How do you see private messages? I've got two and can't get into them. Every time I try doing so from the notification email I get this message: "access denied." Please help. I was also an angry teenager and an angry adult. Feeling a lot of stress right now. Fingers a real mess! Only exercised once this week. Have therapy in a few hours. I love hearing Martin Luther King's speeches--hnot only for what he said, but for his voice. One of the great voices of the 20th century. Let's face it--there are a lot of corrupt dictators out there. The people of their countries are suffering, surviving on a dollar a day, while they have 70 billion dollars in assets scattered around the world. And the hyposcrisy of it all--how the West propped up these guys as long as it served the interest. Bye for now. Tziporah

Hi Amy and Karen, Thanks for the instructions on the private inbox. Maybe you ladies could help me with this tech problem. It's been really weird. I wonder if it has to do with the updated front page--but, since the beginning of the week, every time I've tried to access the msb from my email, I keep getting this "access denied" message. I wanted to reply to another thread on this board, "somewhat new here". and I can't do it. The message I have in my notification email is dated March 2, but when I go to that link, the last dated message I see is Feb. 28. It's weird because I'm able to get into this thread, "belated welcome", with no problems. Maybe it's a quirk. I don't know. Anyway, I'm going to try again now. I also wrote my last messages on this board using a different browser, not my usual internet explorer, link. When I use that alternative browser, called webbie, which is actually free to anyone who wants it, (although it is designed for blind people), I keep getting script notifications-0-like: script in text with internet explorer not okay. So, if you can help, great! Much appreciated as always. I hate tech stuff. This week I've beenoverloaded with them. Upgrading from microsoft word 2003 to 2010, putting in a new braille support program, learning how to work with a new program for accessing texts, etc. etc. etc. On Sunday, new psych.doc put me on mg10 of paxxet. said it was a withdraw affect. Cuti cle-biting really going downhill since Tuesday. Still nervous and anxious. Back hurting. Exercised once this week. Had therapy tonight--today your time--and we were discussing how I need to have structure in my daily schedule, vs. just doing things as they pop up on the screen--as they occur--and then his cell died. Haven't heard from him since, although I left messages on his cell and in his office. Probably he's away from the office for the day. Will just keep working on the same thing. Still feeling stressed by everything: money, the situation here in the Middle East, etc. Qudaffi's a nut. But then, most of the leaders in this region, and in Africa, are nothing to rave about. Some are more decent, like the king of Saudi Arabia, but all of them have billions of dollars in assets all over the world, while their populations/citizens, for the most part, live on a dollar a day in oppressive societies. Look at the Ivory Coast, Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakkistan, etc. etc. etc. Compared to Libya, Egypt and Tunice were a breeze--but their former heads of states walked away with billions. Well, I'm going to try again to get onto that other thread. Tziporah

Hi Tziporah,

Yes, the Middle East is a mess with an abundant supply of wicked leaders who have more money than all of their citizens combined have.

Hi Karen, The point of my email with regards to the Mideast, was to say it's not just there that they have these guys who are really terrorists and baarbarians as heads of states. it's the same throughout the Third World, unfortunately. Anyway, this thing of supporting them as long as they're not too brutal, and as long as they serve the interests of Europe and the U.S.--well, Roosevelt had PICTURES of the train tracks leading to Auschwicz and reports of what was going on thee--the massive gassing, humans used in pseudo-medical experiements, (which was just another torture), etc. and he made all sorts of excuses for not blowing up the tracks. So, this hypocrisy is nothing new. When I think of Quddafi, I'm reminded of the story of Pharaoh in ancient Egypt. He didn't care that this whole country, its ecconomy, and its people were ravaged by the ten plagues G-d visited upon him--all he wanted was another reprieve and more time to sit on his throne. That lesson, from the Biblical Exodus story, is as old and as relevant as ever. As for the side effects of these drugs, you're probably right as far as how they are affecting me. Where you might be wrong is in the common, but erroneous belief, that withdrawal takes less time than adjustment. False. According to Joseph Glenmullen, in his book, Prozac Backlash, (2000), just as it takes the system several weeks to aqcclimate itself to the introduction of the drug, it also can take several weeks for the system to wash it out--meaning, that although the medication has been stopped, there are remnants of it in the brain and blood.. It is also complicated by the fact that some drugs are short-acting, while others are longer-acting. So, that also has to be factored in. I'm reviewing this book and I'm still very agitated by it. He says the antidepressants of today are very much like the cocaine euphoria of the early 1900s, when they were prescribed as medication for antidepressants. he says the stimulating affect of meds like ritalin and the antidepressants are analogous to taking anphetamins at a low dose--anphetamins and these meds are both stimulants. Well, after presenting a lot of evidence, he concludes his book by admitting that even with all the side-effects and risks, he still prescribes these meds. He says, though, the point is not to overprescribe. This book is about ten years old, so some of the info may be irrelevant. I still think, though, a lot of it is thought-provoking. Amazing to me, all the psychiatrists I have met, and most of the therapists as well, have never heard of it--this book--and suggest going on meds with a simple flick of their wrist. That's how I got on them. As for tech support, they can contact me. In the meantime, I'm going to just reply to the message on the other thread, even though I'm not up to the right link. Tziporah
