Has anyone ever had Reiki done to them.  I had it once when I went for a message.  I had a very nice spiritual experience.  My late FIL visited me.  He came to me as an English Soldier, but I knew it was him.  It was his essense.

I'm thinking of taking a course to learn how to do it.  My SIL invited my Mom and me to come with her to take this course.

I think Reiki is a wondefully healing art. Ironically, I've never been able to connect with a practitioner! :-\ When I had a ruptured cervical disk in my back a few years ago, I refused surgery, and chose treatment instead from my chiropractor of 30 years and my acupuncturist of 15 years. During that process, when I had healed enough to be able to drive again (I had lost all strength in my left arm and hand, and was in severe pain), I had researched Reiki, and it's work with energy, and wanted to add that to my healing process. I found an apparently reputable certifying organization online and wrote to find practitioners in my area, but there were none closer than an hour and a half drive, one way, which was too long in my condition at the time. I also found out my DD's boyfriend's mother was a Level II Reiki practitioner and I tried to connect with her for an appt. Nothing seems to work out, as she was working full-time and going to school, also. :( So, in meditation, I realized I was being told that Reiki wasn't what I needed. I returned to another tool that had helped me many years before in personal healing, Visualization. I memorized how my x-rays and MRIs looked, and what they *should* look like, and worked with that in visualization. I was able to avoid surgery (with only a 50% chance of regaining strength and eliminating pain) and regain full strength and an end to all the pain. :)

I am still interested in Reiki, but like other things I have learned in my life, I trust my Goddess will open a doorway when the timing is right... :D

Trigger point therapy is awesome! I learned it when I attended massage therapy school many years ago. I dug out my books to locate the points regarding my cervical ruptured disc and associated muscle spasms and pain, and taught my DH those points and how to apply pressure to them properly. It was another tool in healing from that disc. I've used it only older dogs, in particular, too, after long walks, when they seemed achy. They love it, also! :)

Working with animals is a growing need, IMO. My sis-in-law has horses and she hires a chiropractor specializing in horses to help when her animals have problems. It works very well! You seem to have an affinity with animals. Perhaps this is a path you should pursue. :P

Hi, Brush! I'm new to this board as well. Something you said in your post really connected with me:

"Then visualize that roots are growing from my feet and nestle into the earthe.. that then energy comes through these roots into my body. Then I need to visualize opening the top of my head and let universal energy enter my body and when the energy from down in the earth and the one from the universe meet?"

I do a similar visualization during my t'ai chi practice, which is like a moving meditation for me, but also unblocked energy throughout my body in the process. I visualize this drawing of Earth's healing energy up through the soles of my feet, up my spine and also spiritual/insightful energy coming in through the top of my head. Amazing! :)

I also do a breathing exercise from my heart chakra, inhaling healing/loving enegies and exhaling stale energies, renewing myself.

I usually cast a Circle for protection whenever I "open myself" to the Universe in meditation or t'ai chi practices, and call upon the Guardians of the Four Directions as well as my totems of those directions, and the Elements, to protect me while I'm "open."

Hi Everyone!

I've been out of town for a week and haven't been able to get to the board. I am back now and recovering today from a red eye/overnight flight so I have to center before I can reply. I wanted to let you know though that I have many replies to the discussion that has been occuring and to look for a post or two in the comming days that I hope will answer some questions and perhaps inspire even more exploration and discussion.

Namaste,
Lena
