Saturday's Ponder
| Sat, 11-06-2004 - 8:25am |
A Weekend Welcome to you all. This is the first weekend we don't have any commitments, and probably the last until after the holildays. Anybody have anything fun planned? Here is a question to ponder.
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one ability or quality, what would it be?
Can't wait to see your answers.

Mine would be confidence.
Oh, that's an easy one...I'd have full use of my left arm. I have a disbility from birth and have very limited range of motion, etc of my left arm. I would love to wake up and have it be normal - to be able to do so many more things than I can now.
Thanks for the fantasy moment :) just visualizing it put a smile on my face.

Definitely, it would be the gift of singing.
Hi Lena, welcome to the Faith & Spirituality board.
Oh, how I would love to sing too!
As for helping with the spiritual path - absolutely. I have experienced quite a few things in my life and am fortunate now to look at them as just that, experiences. I remember reading somewhere that sometimes people experience things early on in life so that they can resolve and move ahead quicker thus allowing them a large portion of their life to mentor/guide others.
Some of the experiences I had were the disability, childhood sexual abuse, other physical limitations/conditions (too numerous to list), bankruptcy, eviction, auto reposession, and a few others. The miracle is that I look at everything as a miracle and an experience that I can use to relate to others in helping them past their challenges. I love my life and feel that everything that has and will happen is absolutely perfect in the moment that it occurs.
By the age of 30 I became a practicing Reiki Master Teacher and shortly thereafter started a Life Coaching practice. Many people said I was lucky to know what I wanted that young. I feel that if I didn't experience what I did, and continue to, I wouldn't be as in tune to my higher guidance or the energy of others.
It's amazing how life works like that :)

I can think of how it is such a great way to explain a chronic illness to others. Actually, I would love to write an article based on it - I'll have to search her out on the boards and ask permission.
It's funny how much I can relate. Some of the other physical stuff I experience is diabetes, arthritis and difficulty with my feet/ankles. If I go out dancing for a night, getting out of bed and walking the next morning is often a chore. I do it, but generally not without pain. I remember when I was employed by others - and would stand all day teaching classes (I was a trainer), people would ask me why I wouldn't call in sick if I was in pain. And I would reply that if I called in sick because it was tough to stand then I may as well quit my job and forget everything - after all I love helping people grow and to not do that would be like not breathing. I see now, that I was using that "reserve" spoon. Amazing.
Defintely something to think about...
