The Dark Side
Angels are not always light and love. Here's how to tell the difference.

Q. Can I contact angels through an ouija board?  <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Why do people keep thinking things like the ouija board are harmless children's games, fun enterprises at teenage slumber parties, or casual tools for instant enlightenment?

You may believe that you have made contact with a wonderful angelic being, but you are more apt to have summoned an astral masquerader by your naive approach to spiritual awareness.

Beware of exploring the occult world of tarot, ouija, and spirit mediumship. Without the proper discipline, study, and discrimination, you will likely interact only with those entities that seek to deceive and entrap you. Such tools of the occult should never be utilized by any other than those who have learned a firm mind control and the techniques of surrounding themselves with loving and harmonious vibrations. Instruments of divination are most surely not games for children.

Those who feel disciplined enough to seek contact with otherworldly intelligences must always remember that our physical world is much closer to the realm of the lower, more negative spiritual frequencies than it is to the dimension of the most harmonious and loving beings. Because we exist in a material world, our psyches will always contain more aspects similar to those of the lower vibratory realms than the higher spiritual planes.

A Prayer for Protection from Negative Entities

O God please send my beloved angel guide to establish your protective light around me.

Erect a shield of love about me that is invincible, all-powerful, and impenetrable.

Keep me protected from all things that are not of the Light.

Surround me with thy perfect Love.

Q. How do you tell the good angels from the bad or fallen angels?

Through discernment. But sometimes that's easier said than done, especially because some of those dark side beings can make themselves so darned attractive.

Native American medicine men and women instruct their people that a spirit that is called or summoned and asked to do the bidding of supplicant will always want something in return. All too often that seemingly innocent process of barter will turn out to be something far from benign.

Spirit guides and angels have, as a considerable portion of their earthly mission, the task of guiding us toward ever-expanding spiritual awareness. In addition to their having been assigned to be there on certain occasions to give us a helping hand, we believe that it is also an integral part of their task to lead us to a clearer understanding of our true role in the cosmic scheme of things. Judging from our own interaction with these beings, they seem to cast themselves in the role of tutor, far preferring to teach us by example and inspiration rather than by intervening in our learning process. It is in this very crucial area of noninterference that the benevolent angels and guides differ markedly from the negative beings, the spiritual parasites, that emanate from the Dark Side. The shadowy entities that masquerade as benign angels have no compunction about interfering with humankind's spiritual evolution. Quite the contrary, they appear to delight in manipulating our spiritual destiny, exploiting our physical bodies, and enslaving our souls.

A number of religious traditions maintain that each individuals have a good and a bad angel that remain with them throughout their lives. While one may be one's professed belief that "all things work together for good for those who love God," we have also been given free will. Because of our God-given gift to be able to make choices, we must work extra hard on developing discernment, the ability to judge truly the difference between the good and the bad in all things. For a very good reason, the Bible reminds us to "test and try" the spirits. The holy books of many spiritual traditions teach that there are millions of angels with different assignments, capacities, and missions. There are also many levels of angels, from those that are just a little higher than we to those majestic beings that surround the throne of God. If we truly are just a little lower than the angels, then it stands to reason that there may be countless members among the "powers and principalities" that don't know a great deal more than we finite creatures on Earth. When an alleged heavenly being appears, test it, practice discernment.

Thanks for an interesting article! :) While I don't believe in angels per se, I do believe in shielding when opening myself during t'ai chi and meditation, from harmful energies or influences. I cast my Circle and call the Guardians of the Four Directions and my Personal Totems for each direction before opening myself. I trust my intuition and instinct to guide me, also. They are my best warning system. Thanks again! Gypsy

Blessings,

Gypsy
