Suicides - what happens afterwards?

What do you think happens to suicides after death?  Do you think they go on to the beautiful other side to be counseled and helped through it?  Do they come right back to repeat their life with the same obstacles (kind of like dropping out of school and having to repeat the course to graduate)?  Are they stuck in this world as a ghost and not allowed through?  Are they condemned to a bad place?

I believe no soul is condemned, and if anyone wants to call the spirit dimension "heaven," or "the afterlife," then we are talking about the same thing.

I know there's a lot of negative judgment out there regarding "suicide." I just think it's very tragic and sad. However, life cannot exist without death, and vice versa. I believe in Karma and Reincarnation, so suicide to me is a conscious choice one makes to move on. Maybe the lessons the person was trying to learn in this lifetime in order to evolve as spirit, or the Karmic suffering due to rebalancing what the person set out of balance in the current or past lifetime, reached an impasse? There are many reasons for suicide, not just deep depression or unhappiness. I just believe that after death people return to the spirit realm from which they came, have time to rest, absorb, sort out the lessons of the lifetime they just left, and ready themselves for the next lifetime, choosing what lessons or Karma they will work on, who they will do the work with, be born to, etc. I also lean toward the idea that before we reincarnate, we choose the manner of our birth (to whom) as well as the manner of our death.

What an interesting discussion, Cara. I've thought about this too since I'm undecided on the reincarnation vs heaven/hell argument.

Counselling on the other side is a necessity, I'd vote for that. Though I never

Hi Barbara,

You have a keen insight into this.

Yes, this is why we shouldn't blame others for their effects on us.

Hugs to you over the loss of your FIL and his wife and your personal ordeal!

You said, also:

'Yes, this is why we shouldn't blame others for their effects on us.  I believe we choose our relationships with parents, siblings, mates and friends before we come into life so that we can learn from them.  I look at it as a waste of a whole life if we don't even try to work through tough relationships and situations.  "

I also see it as that *we* also connect with certain people in each lifetime *AS THEIR TEACHERS* as well. We teach and we also learn, and we restore balance through Karma, with different individuals, or help *them* by being in their lives, to work out *their* Karma as well. I don't equate that with staying in dysfunctional relationships or allowing ourselves to be victimized, however. In refusing to get caught up in destructive patterns, we are teachers as well as protecting ourselves, that there is a better way to live. :)

It's like a dance as I see it, each leading sometimes, each following sometimes, each dancing alone or with someone else sometimes...

More hugs,

When my mom ended her life I was crushed.
I do know everything she was giong through...she did talk up until that day.
She was 2 people. The Dark Side of her is what ended the life. She was always in mental pain. She's now out of the pain....I do respect her decision.
But what happens to her now? Where is she in the afterlife/otherworld? I don't know. I don't know how to feel on this subject. For right at 8 years now I've been searching for that answer....even to the one's that don't take their own lives.
I know one day we will all know the answers to all questions that we have.

I think that outside forces affect an individual so much so that they lose hope in their current lifetime.
