Do you think tusumi was an act of God ?
| Mon, 01-10-2005 - 2:12am |
Hey everyone, this is my first time posting to this board. Let me introduce myself. My name is Ila. I'm posting to this board today because I have a question that I would like to hear some of your thoughts about. It's about the earthqukes that happened over in Asia. Does anyone think this was an act of God?? the reason why I have asked this question is because a co-worker asked me about it one day. My co-worker said she has a friend that is very spirtual. And he told her during a conversation that he was suprised that religest people weren'tcoming forth and saying it was an act of God because people have been killing christians in indoneshia I looked it up on google and its true about the killings. Also, I think it's great the the U.S. is trying to help out but the one thing that bothers me is that it seems that the U.S. doesn't consern it's self with the problems that go on in that part of the world until something like this happens. Example I just finshed watching a news report about how childern over there are kiddnaped and sold as sex slaves and how after tusumi there are human trafficers who are trying to find orphaned childern to do this terriable act to. This has always went on over there, how com the U.S. has never had any news reposts asking people to help with donations and such to stop this from happening to these childern? just now? does anyone understand were I'm coming from?? non the less my thoughts, prayrs, and well wishes go out to all the victums.

Life & death are a part of each other. Serve a purpose for each spirit. I liked how you described it. Sad and tragic as it is for those left behind, death is a Doorway, not an ending, to further opportunity for rebirth/reincarnation and further spiritual evolution.

The Tsunami WAS NOT and act of God, and serioulsy each and everytime I read or hear about Christian saying it was because it occured after christmas and that it was to punish infidels it make me cringe. First because those countries

I guess I fuction the same as you do, I feel inside me that what I belive is right, it works for me and that's the essential because i can go on in life without fears now. I also believe that what is right for me is not necessary right for others and that they should be free to believe what the want as long as they do not pressurise other to think the same.
Here in India we have less muslim extremist, but there are sometimes violent riots between Hindus and Muslims (both group are extremist).
And Christians all extremist they are do not use real physical violence, but I read and heard the same story several time about evangelist visiting the poor sectors of cities or the countryside, telling people that the reason they are poor is because they pray the wrong god and that God will save them if they pray to him only, to make people believe it they have a "whish box" or "Miracle Box", then they ask each person to fill a note stating their wish, since we are talking about poor classes, there are nothing really fancy about those wishes, it's about a new wheelcart so I can go and sell fruits in the next city or a boat to go fishing, a little money to educate my children and so on, that money means penuts in USD or whatever foreign currency, so obviously those small miracles are financed by the evangelists and is enough to make people believe in God (with the warning that if they return to a Hindu temple God will be really angry at them and cause devastation) and you have brand new christian on the spots...by exploiting their poverty but still new christians and that's all that matter to those evangelists.
Benny Hinn was not welcomed at all in Bangalore and we still wonder how the government authorised such a thing, especially since there are many more reputable churches in Bangalore itself who could have conducted a more genuine act of compassion there.

Hi, Cynthia!
Now this is disgusting, he should have gone to Jail for such an act, I would even qualify this as indirect Murder!
How many person pay 1000 bucks a month to make his back account fat? This is as much terrorism as those muslim extremism bomb dropping.
How the governement accepted this here in India is still a mystery, but pretty soon after the events it was found he was a big Fraud.
And he disgraced the Christianity here as a well, there are plenty of completely honourable chruch around here pretty active in the society, we really didn't need this monster here, anyway all the educated classes of the city all religion confonded were against him, I just hope he is not here to stay we do not need money sucker here there are already enough of those, we need people willing to give of their time and personnal money to support community oriented projects.

Hi Barbara,
wanted to post back a bit earlier but electricity is going super wrong today :-), of course I remember you, how is everything going on your side?
I visited several muslim countries on holidays and I must say that the way the religion is practiced varies a lot, in countries where the majority is muslim and that the state and the religion is not fully separated you have more stricts rules and it can be annoying being a woman on holiday there. In Saudi Arabia where the Governemnt law is the Islamic law you have the most extreme case of islamism and there are probably more super extremists person there.
In India it's quite different, of course there are extremist groups in every religions and they of course create a few waves in the subcontinent, but India being a country of 1 billion soul I must say I impressed at how smoothly things go most of the time, considering that every religions are represented in the population. Muslims in India are really moderate and generally there are no problems. Maybe the thing that make Indai such an open minded place toward religions is that everybody are allowed to have a worship place, you find mosque, churches, temples and maybe some synagogues but I didn't see any so far mixing togehter and no one complains about those.
I compare it to Switzerland where all you will find are churches and synagogues, and a few hidden from view house for muslim praying. No buddhist or hindu temple, no mosque because people fear Islam. And I guess in the west as you said we are conditionned to think other religions are or pagan or in the case of Islam a religion of Terrorist, this is wrong and I guess we should open our mind to what other religion have to bring to the worl.
I'm glad such a board exist so that we can share that kind of information, it's one of those things much needed in today's world.

Unfortunately there are quite a few groups like Benny Hinn's in the USA. They just fly under the radar and don't take it as far as he does. I guess as long as there is religion, there will always be extremist groups in all organized religion. It's sad that government and religion always seem to start the wars.
You are also right, Cynthia, about how Christians are being portrayed because of the few extremists and extortionists. Money can do terrible things to people. It's almost like they worship money first, than God.
I have talked to quite a few people from different countries about the war, Bush, religion, etc... It seems the majority don't blame the American population as a whole, but almost everyone I talked to do not care for the way Bush is handling international affairs. But, it is only opinion. I do have to say we are lucky that, in democracy, we can only have one presidents' duration last 8 years.
Hopefully more and more people will become tolerant of others. I guess we will all just have to pray for peace and harmony and hope for the best!
Take care,
Robbyn
