Heavy thoughts ...

I must have too much spare time on my hands. Lately I've been thinking alot about life, destiny -- all that good stuff.  Some questions I'd like your opinion on ...

* Do you think each of us have a destiny in life?  Is it something we were born into?  Or do we totally make it up as we go along?

* Do you think destiny is preordained? Therefore things like our time of birth and death are already determined? Can we change this destiny in any way?

I'm always impressed by the insightful comments here.  Please feel free to share your thoughts ...

"Do you know if you made a wrong or right choice immediately? Does it some times take a while for it to become apparent?"

I'm not sure I believe that there are right and wrong choices, just long and short routes on our personal journeys. Sometimes though it feels like those little nudges if ignored become more and more insistent and persistent so that whilst we may not take too much notice of them in the beginning we usually do sooner or later. Thing is though taking the most direct route may mean that you miss out on some of the beautiful scenery along the way or may result in you missing meeting someone with a very important message you need to hear so like I said at the beginning I'm not sure that there are right and wrong choices, just longer or shorter routes.

Yes I do feel it is truly a blessing. It proves to me time and time again that there is someone keeping an eye on me.

Meditation is an excellent tool, I agree. I studied Zen and was a member of a Zen community for about 3 years. I would get up at 4:30 a.m. and drive to the zendo for 6:00 a.m. zazen (sitting meditation). I treasure those years, and learning proper focus and technique for sitting meditation. Learning about Zen also helped me recognize that I cause a lot of my own suffering, with allowing others to define who I am, or getting caught up in "dramas." Ruiz's work, "The Four Agreements" speak to this wisdom, also. ;)

Blessings on your journey,
Gypsy
