Let's hear it for Mom!

IF you're a mom, who are you a mama to?  And while we're on the subject, tell us about your mom!

****

I'll start.  I'm a mom to 19-year-old TJ (College freshman), 15-year-old Nick (High school freshman), and 16-month-old Kovu, my shephard-collie puppy!

My Mom is 67-year-old Mable.  Afrer raising five willful daughters, she's now a grandma of 6.  She's in her second year of Alzheimer's.  I call her my "little brown woman".  It's our turn to take care of her now.

I am a mom to a boy named Anthony who will be 9 this year and a girl named Alyssa who will be 7 soon. I ADORE being a mother and wouldn't know what to do with myself if I didn't see their beautiful faces every morning when I woke up!
My mom was a very strong-willed woman. She grew up in a very dysfunctional family. Her dad was an alcoholic and mom was schizophrenic. She had 5 brothers and sisters which she basically raised when they weren't carted off to orphanages. She grew up very poor.
She made our lives as comfortable as possible while still instilling us with responsibility and good morals. Her honesty about her childhood helped us grow up to be responsible and compassionate adults.
I hope I am instilling at least an ounce of what my mother instilled in us to my children!
Love and Blessings to all the other mothers out there!

Great idea Cee! :-)

I'm Mommy to two boys (9 & 6) and one girl (4). And I consider myself having two Moms: my Mother (to whom I very grateful for raising me with an open mind and taught me to not just accept the status quo) and my Mother-in-Law (to whom I'm grateful for introducing me to the Sacred Feminine and a whole new world within).

She deserves it! All her siblings got involved in drugs and so her mothering of them continued into adulthood. Besides working, taking care of us, and taking care of her siblings, she also spent much of her free time visiting my grandmother in the hospital even though she was pretty far away. I think what she really instilled in me is that family always comes first, even if they aren't the "cream of the crop"!

Yep, my IL's live about 1/2 hour away. DH works for his Dad and I work for his Mom. LOL I wish my parents lived as close. My Mom comments often that she's envious of the time MIL gets to spend with me. We make up for it with regular phone calls though.
