Empty

Pour it out.  Dump it out.  Throw it out.  Empty every bag,  box and bureau.   Empty every closet, every corner, every cupboard, every cell.  Pull it out.  Drag it out  Clean it out.  Clear it out.  Spread it out, sort it out.  Look at what you've collected, what you stored, what you carry around with you every day of your life.  Empty the old, the unwanted, the unusable.  Empty out the pain, the heartache, the memories.  Empty everything that offers nothing.  Leave things empty for a while.  Feel empty.  Feel the lack.  Feel your way through the nothingness, until at last you feel ready to fill.

Being "empty" is how I approach my contemplative prayer period. :)) I just recently joined a group in my parish and we meet weekly, but have our own prayer periods the rest of the time. It's a time of being OPEN and LISTENING. Rather than doing all the talking. :P If we can't empty ourselves out of all our mental mind games and "spin" and to do list, how can we hear God calling?! So, that's how I approach the word "empty," today. Ask me again tomorrow, or when I'm stressed out or exhausted, and you might get a different answer, though. LOL! Which only means I need to go sit in prayerful and quiet contemplation... ;)) Anna

I am a book lover, also. ;)) I, too, *love* that special smell that only bookstores have. Or libraries... :P Anna
