I am just curious to know how people picked their board names and for those who want to share what (if any) meaning they have?

In answer to my own question, my name came after reading the trio of the Conversations with God books that some of you have probably heard of. One of the messages that kept jumping out at me was the repeating of the words "I've sent you nothing but angels". Now I try to remind myself that no matter how annoyed or irritated I may get at times with others, they are in fact 'angels' sent to help me expand my understanding and to learn from them.

Good question! I always look at others' names and wonder too.
When I first joined iVillage 5 years ago (dang! has it really been 5 years???) I just used my real first and last named, mushed together. Later, when I became involved with the various pagan boards I found myself admiring everyone else's screennames and the obvious meaning they held. About that time I also realized that using my real name online probably wasn't very wise.
I had a really hard time coming up with something new and meaningful. I'd read about how others had picked theirs, I'd read articles on choosing 'magickal names', and nothing really jumped out at me. While reading through a list of herbs and their metaphysical qualities "Ginger" appealed to me for 2 reasons: it was my best friend's nickname from her childhood so I associated it with her, and it's associated with cleansing (if I remember correctly). Maybe it was protection. Anyway, I remember connecting it with clearing out the old and starting over. Took me a couple more days to decide what to put with it though. "Cookie" just kept forcing its way into my head and wouldn't get out. It sounded cute, but I didn't want cute. I wanted something serious. Something like the others on the pagan sites had. Finally it occured to me that cute and silly really was perfect for me. It has a connotation of fun. Of NOT taking myself too seriously. (And one of my favorite sayings afterall, is "Life is too short to take seriously.")
Since then GingerCookie has become my online identity. I use it in on every forum I'm a part of and I recognize it as quickly as I do my real name. It's ME and I doubt I'll ever change it.
Goodness.
I'm impressed. Just made up or not it sounds good to me.
