Will you see it?

What's your opinion about other movies (The Passion of the Christ, etc) on this line of content?

Huh! Didn't know it was coming out as a movie - I just 30 minutes ago started listening to the book on tape! Wow, what timing with your post!

LOVED the book!! I've also since read a handful of the nonfiction books it was based on, at the recommendation of my Dad, who's a high-ranking Mason and a Templar Knight. I was a bit disappointed to hear Tom Hanks had been cast as Robert Langdon. He's a fabulous actor, but I don't think the right *look* for how Dan Brown portrayed the character. We shall see.

As for other movies, such as Passion of the Christ... I don't generally watch them. Don't have any desire to. Now if it was something that I know fits MY beliefs in some way, I'd be right there.

You know, though, Tom Hanks is pretty amazing. Even though I'm only partway thru the book now (lol), and I must agree he doesn't LOOK the part I'm envisioning...he's definitely got depth & is very talented. In each of his films I'm impressed with the character he is able to become.

Now I'll have to go do a websearch about this film - the film I didn't know was even being made. LOL

Yep, those are 2 that my Dad gave me. When God Was A Woman is also in the bibiography. I'm still looking for more. I'll post if/when I find them.

I already read the Davinci Code, and, although I don't know if I can fully believe that Jesus was married, I do believe that Mary Magdalene played a very important role in Jesus' life. I will always believe that there is a masculine and a feminine God. Everything on this Earth has come from the combination of masculine and feminine energies. Yin and Yang, The moon and the sun, procreation, etc. I think in the early days of Christianity, male church leaders were looking to control the church and felt intimidated by the significant role of women in developing Christianity. Womens' roles were diminished and were written out of the Bible. This has been recognized in the recent past by the Catholic church when they finally recognized Mary Magdalene as a disciple of Jesus and not a prostitute. It is also a fact that in the beginning of Christianity, priests and clergy were allowed to marry, but, as they had children, the children inherited the land and did as they pleased with it. To stop this from happening, they chose for clergy to be celibate so the land would stay with the church and not be taken over by relatives.
In the Passion of the Christ, it also shows the importance of women in the early days of Christianity. If you notice, all of the Apostles betrayed and/or abandoned Jesus on the day of the Crucifixion. The Mother Mary, Mary Magdalene and Jesus' brother were the only three brave enough to stay with Jesus.
If anything, The Davinci Code has shown that women were a very important part of Christian history. There is not much fact behind Jesus having a child or being married, but I wouldn't completely rule it out. It was more uncommon for a man NOT to be married in those days than to be married. One thing I can say for sure is that Jesus held Mary Magdalene close to his heart and she was one of his closest disciples. Jesus did not discriminate against women, mortal man chose that path.
All I can say is I am glad she is finally getting the recognition she deserves!
This is all just my opinion though!

AAAAAAAAAARGHHHH! I NEVER get to listen to books on CD (that aren't from the juvenile section of the library)!
And when I finally get DaVinci Code, and get a few minutes to listen to it, it SKIPS! I'm all into it, lapping up every word, and then BAM! Skipped 2 chapters on me!

Wonder if the library has another copy....and how long the wait is.

(mini rant over, thanks!)

The Best Bool I Have Ever Read!!!! I loved it...the symbolism, the codes, the history!! The Pure Genius!!! I like getting facts rather than believing what has been past down through word of mouth and culture! It's crazy how the basis for everything we know and practice everyday isnt what it originally stood for. Makes you think a lot and i love that...everything we believe is kinda fake..like going to church on sundays..(pagan..sun...and other examples....christmas..dec 25..calendar is not the same as it was back then...and so on) I am excited to see the movie although i dont think it will do the book justice....there's too much history and background to incorporate in a limited time...i think they are gonna focus more on the action...to keep interest...also tom hanks isnt who i had pictured robert langdon to resemble..but he is a brilliant actor!!
