What spiritual rituals do you do?

As you know, I am exploring my spirituality lately.  Hoodoo is a way for me to still incorporate my Catholic roots, into something I believe makes more sense and utilizes nature as well as prayer.

In Hoodoo, we use candles, herbs, oils, inscense, smoke, powders, colors, etc. to ask the saints and our ancestors for help or protection or blessings.  Usually this is done on an altar at home....but that isn't a necessity.  Sometimes, merely taking a ritual bath and lighting a candle is ritual enough.  It's the intention that really matters.

What rituals do you use?

I have to admit I have no rituals at all.

The only thing I do that can really be called a ritual is my morning candle-lighting. The first thing I do when I hit the kitchen is to light a candle and take a moment to close my eyes and thank Spirit for all the Blessings in my life. Some days I'll list them individually or ask for help or guidance in a particular area, more often it's just a feeling in my heart of gratefulness. The candle is my physical reminder to take the time.

I try to pray when I wake up in the mornings and at night before I go to bed, but I don't always succeed. That's pretty much it.

I don't follow rituals very well, I'm very ADDish and just have to jump right into things.

For me, I read the readings for the daily Liturgy, the Gospel, Epistle, and any other readings (like Psalms) in my Bible and a little meditative essay on one of the readings. I do 30 minutes of contemplative prayer and also pray the Rosary. I try to say thank you to God as I go through the day, also.
