Did anyone see the concerts on Saturday that took place in 10 contries? Do you think that what they set out to achieve really can be done and poverty really be wiped out?

Live8 was a huge event here, not sure if that was because we initiated it or because the G8 summit is being held here so not sure how big it was in other countries though from what I saw there was huge amounts of support.

I'm not sure that wiping out debt will wipe out starvation, which as I understand it is the aim. I think the politics of the countries involved will play a huge part in what happens though I do think that it is at least a start. If we wipe out the debt now it will be interesting to see what excuses these governments come up with for not providing the aid that is so desperately needed if they fail to do so.

What do others think?

The truth is that poverty and hunger could be wiped out today if the world powers chose to do so.

I totally agree Bink, thats why I think it is a shame that so much support throughout the world will probably go to waste.
