past life memories

Just out of curiosity, do any of you have memories of past lives? I don't really have memories, but I have issues that I came into life with, and sometimes I think that they're definitely connected to a past life.

I do have a incredible fascination with everything german, and I think I might have been a German peasant or something at one time. I also abhor alcohol, especially beer. I can literally smell it if it's elsewhere in the house. I have an unnatural loathing for it, and I keep wondering where it stems from? The only conclusion that I can come to, is that it's a holdover from a past life. I

Neither of my parents were not alcoholics at all.
They never did drugs at all either, and raised me not to drink nor do drugs, but I don't loathe drugs as much as I loathe alcohol. Same with smoking.

I also tend to overeat and all the things that are bad for me, it makes me wonder, did I starve in a previous life or something? I've always beent that way.

Anyway, just curious as to what your experiences are!

Do I have photos??? You bet! Will send one photo of Ginger...when my h can help me with the scanner...we love hounds of all shapes and sizes, especially the big coon dogs and bloodhounds (except neither one of us hunts or comes from the south, LOL.)

I never had a pet while growing up...my parents didn't like animals in the house at all...and, as you know, it's way too cold in CT to leave pets outside! Because I'd never been around dogs or cats, I was afraid of them til adulthood...then I met my h and he showed me how wonderful they are! He grew up in the country, where pets are commonplace and his family always had several animals at a time. He can handle just about any dog. His mother once owned an ocelot (before it became illegal to import them).

Ginger is three, she's the best dog I've ever owned, doesn't have many bad habits such as chewing, digging, etc. She is kind of a ninny though, wanting to be inside with us all the time...I must confess that I spoil her...shamelessly.

Don't know how I ever lived without a dog in my life, LOL...Ok, I will be happy to send the photo soon...glad to meet a fellow canine lover!

I don't have complete, picture perfect memories of myself in previous lives. I do, like you wrote, have "glimpses," knowing I've never in this life been in a certain room or location, or heard someone say something, or there's a familiarity about a stranger, indicating I may have worked with them on some Karmic lesson in previous lifetimes. It's been called deju vu, also, I think. Perhaps these instances are supposed to help, as reminders or road signs to our spirit, that this lesson or message has been given us before, that we should pay closer attention? I'm not sure. I know that challenges that threaten my balance are also lessons that I haven't fully learned in previous lives, and that I'm still struggling with. The important thing is to keep struggling to learn, grow strong, find the balance on any issue. The willingness to grapple with things is important. I believe that in each lifetime, we make a little headway with the "big stuff," but perhaps don't fully "get it" without further work in future lifetimes, while, on the other hand, we may deal with smaller issues more quickly in one lifetime, or just a few, before leaving them behind.

Same here...I find I'm drawn to certain time periods in history more than others...and I'm also drawn to certain cultures even though I have nothing in my background to warrant this attachment..

I believe one of my kids has a second sight...she has had dreams and precognitive thoughts from a young age...she is nine now....and just last night asked me what is this feeling of having been there before? We discussed deja vu...sometimes I must remind myself that I am speaking to a child, but she is more perceptive than many adults I meet...

I know what you mean. Perhaps your daughter is more of an "old soul" in this reincarnation, and has learned much in past lives? And one of those lessons was developing her gift? Something to think about, anyway... :) I have had this feeling with some children, also. They seem to have some inner wisdom and focus that others their age, do not. I believe more evolved, wiser souls/spirits keep reincarnating not only for their own "development" but to help the rest of us, also.

I had read a long time ago about some children born between about 1970 and 1985 as being "Star Children," advanced/old souls who have reincarnated to bring stability and harmony to the world.

I'd heard the "Indigo Children" are born with special gifts, also, for the same reason...

Well, that's good to know...that it keeps getter better...at least, it has been that way for me...my children have taught me a lot about honesty, in their naivete, they assume the world is a good place, full of wonder for them. If they don't like something or someone, they simply move on...or avoid it altogether. They don't seem to hang onto stuff the way adults do...

The church and I have parted company now...my older child goes (and I go with her but I'm not really there in spirit) but the younger one wants nothing to do with it so I don't force her as my folks did with me. In the end, I don't think it will matter...you are either kind or not...church won't make it so.

Maybe so...a few years ago, when she was younger, one of our houseguests and dear friend became quite taken with this child...he also called her an "old soul"...funny, many of the boys and girls in her third grade class used to tell her their problems and she would tell me at home about the boy who was on ADD meds and had food allergies so he couldn't eat the things that would help him grow bigger and stronger...and the girl whose parents were divorced...and another girl who wasn't sure which gender she identified with...my dd worries about each one of them, she's a thoughtful child.

I need to keep an eye on her though, as I have seen her become a bit depressed after listening too much...she has an empathy and she likes to feel needed but too much of it makes her melancholy.

The subject of reincarnation and past lives has always fascinated me. Probably because I've been told from the time I can remember that I'm my great-grandmother reincarnate.

I don't have any memories, clear or otherwise, but there are certain parts of the world I've always felt a pull towards. And I've met a few people I'm sure I've known before. One in particular is a very strong connection. We both felt it instantly and have become very close in this lifetime. We even jokingly refer to 'next time' frequently in conversation. Neither of us have tried figuring out just who we were to each or where or when. Another I'm still trying to figure out. There was the same instant feeling of connection, but there's a sense of distrust that I just can't get past, as if this person has betrayed me once before. Weird stuff.

When people have this empathetic gift, they need to learn how to shield themselves so as not to get drained of their own healing energies. Perhaps a visualization exercise might help her.
