Creating with our thoughts 2

Just curious to see what people think as most (me included) seem to believe that we can and do create our reality with our thoughts. Do you think that when you want to create something in your life you should concentrate on one thing or the bigger picture. As an example dh and I often visit a favourite place on the coast in Wales and lately I have begun to think it would nice to live in or within the vicinity of this particular place. I've thought about trying to create this want with my thoughts but I wonder what others think as to whether I should just concentrate my thoughts on the area I want to live in, the type of house I'd like to live in, the house and the area or should I be concentrating on the bigger picture such as how it is going to happen i.e. finding employment there for all of us etc. Whilst I believe we create with out thoughts I've never actually conciously tried to create before and so I'm unsure exactly what I should be doing. Also should I start with little things and work my way up the bigger things?

Yes, I've read the same. It seems a subtle difference when comparing just the words, but once you look at the mindset behind each, it makes sense. Even saying 'such and such is coming to me' implies that it's not here yet and will (according to the theory) keep you waiting. Since it's always 'coming' and not 'here', it'll never arrive. We're supposed to just give thanks for already having it.

Thanks for everyone who has replied, it has been really interesting reading all your thoughts on this.

I have heard that you shouldn't say "want" either as you are telling the Universe that you want something and therefore they give you exactly what you want a want of something. (Blimey hope that makes sense!!)

This particular place in Wales is somewhere I have visited many, many times since I was a child, though it has only been recently that I have felt a pull towards living there and is only an hours drive away so I am quite familiar with the area. Of course visiting isn't the same as living there, though I did once spend a month there getting some practical work experience when I was at college.

I also think that the Universe is intelligent, not like a genie, we won't always get the answer we want because the Universe usually knows what's best for us.

If that is the case, what is the point of being able to create at all? We have to at least show good intentions about helping ourselves. I think that's sort of a cop out, a way not to have to take responsibility for our choices. The 'genie in a bottle' was simply an analogy. We at the very least have to try.
You assume that the answers we seek wouldn't be good for us. Sometimes it is and sometimes it's not, but we have to be involved. The whole point of life is to create.

I should have also added that yes, God does know what is best for us, but sometimes he'll let us go through a learning stage for growth. He desires for us to do what serves us, if we are headed in a not so good place, sometimes he or angels will intervene and put us back on track. But for the most part it is our free will that gets us where we want to be. That's just one of his gifts for us. Not doing anything would be like rejecting the gift. IMHO

What I mean by we don't always get what we ask for = we think the best solution or outcome to a problem might be one thing, but get something else (which we hadn't thought of before). Or, the solution/outcome we want and get doesn't really solve the problem after all.

I agree with free will. But we don't always knows what's best for us. Because we don't always base our intentions on love. And we usually can't see the big picture. So the Universe will try to give us help along the way toward that direction. But ultimately we will have to live with our intentions, actions and consequences.

I love the genie analogy, it's perfect! A genie would just give us exactly what we ask for and leave it at that. But the Universe will always try to watch over us and guide us lovingly. We have a supportive relationship with our Higher Power.

I think we agree on the same things, we're just wording it differently.

It's hard to get what you mean into words sometimes. I think you're right on anyways.

The Garth Brooks song, 'Unanswered Prayers' comes to mind.

After all of this discussion, I was once told to me that all we had
to ask fror in our prayers is for God's will to be done.

I heard the same thing. I also heard God helps those who helps themselves. You can see how that would be true since God's will for you is what you will for yourself. My God, the circles! Too much time spent on this and I'll crack....IMHO, I would have liked it if God would have made it a little easier to comprehend. We never know whose truth is THE TRUTH so we take in everybody's and get confused. I guess we're to go with what serves us best inside, there isn't one right answer for everyone because everyone is so different and our experiences led up to that. Just some thoughts.
God Bless us all, huh?. (Just like when God gave us only two hands....what was he thinking? LOL.
