Today is a day burned into the hearts and minds of the world.  When the World Trade Center fell, the world as we knew it changed forever.

Where were you, and how did you hear about the attack?  What did you do during that week?

With love and prayers for the dead and the still living they left behind,

I remember the phone ringing, my MIL calling to tell us what was happening.

I spent the day crying and watching TV after I got a text message from DH that America had been attacked. It was unbelievable. I lit pink, white and blue candles every night in the front window for weeks, for healing, for safe passage Home for those who died, for love & compassion for those left behind and for all the rescue workers. I flew the flag. I wore a flag sticker. I put one on my car. I prayed.

I think the attacks of 9/11/01 brought out the spiritual connection for a lot of people.

I was working at my desk when the receptionist popped in and said very fast that we were under attack, that the world trade center was hit and somewhere else. The words were so alien and unreal I had to ask her what she just said. She told me to go to the conference room where they had a TV. Even with my own eyes it did not seem real. I watched as they reran the second plane hitting. Shock, goosebumps, fear and the knowledge we were going to war. The world i knew would never be the same. I watched TV for news and talked with many about the tragedy.

I believe today I would not be in NC following my companies close had 911 not occurred. The world is upside down.

The insane war that followed - the killing. What will make it stop?

The Tsunami and now Katrina, a grim reminder of how tenuous life is and the false sense of security we lull ourselves into because things 'appear' to be ok.

I look at myself knowing how difficult it is for me to stay conscious to what appears to be reality and readjust my thinking to creating the world as a better place starting with me.

Life is complex, either that or really simple....

Peace

I was headed to work listening to the radio when I heard about the first plane and everyone still thought it was an "accidental crash". I ran up to work and into the conference room and flipped on the television to CNN and pretty soon word had spread that a plane had accidentally crashed into one of the twin towers. Well soon enough, especially after watching that second plane hit, everyone knew that we were at war and this was an attack. The most horrifying thing was watching those two towers fall to rubble and knowing that there were fire-fighters, workers and other rescue personnel still inside....

A truly horrifying experience and I know that no one in our office got much work done that day. We were all glued to the television.

With the time difference the news hit here late afternoon. I was at home and I watched it unfold on the TV. I think that we here were just as shocked and horrified as the rest of the world that this had happened.
