I'm notorious for withdrawing and not telling even my closest friends when something's upset me.

For me I just keep to myself when life gets me down but then I keep to myself most of the time , so I think I should find something new to do. Another thing I do is I just draw , I find that when I start I get so relaxed and everything just literally melts away. Sometimes I get so relaxed that I actually fall asleep.

I talk to dh, and then often plan a trip, lol. The planning lets me focus on something positive and exciting. Doesn't need to be a big trip - the weekend in DC last weekend really perked up my spirits - even BEFORE we went, just planning & looking forward.

Dh and I were just talking about the impending winter (makes us both desperate to move someplace warm - EVERY WINTER!), and are wondering exactly how much kindergarten our dd can miss before we get a visit from the truant officer, lol. We've always taken a week or 10 days in Feb and gone someplace toasty, but there's no school break then...

(for those ready to judge, this is half in jest... but it IS 1/2 day kindergarten, and my dd is currently reading at 2nd grade level & explaining the anatomy of worms to her classmates. So it's not like missing a little bit of kindergarten is going to kill her)

Wow, that turned into a little novella, didn't it? LOL

I cry when i'm alone, usually in the shower. I find that water has healing properties for me.

I often pray in the shower. I sit on the bottom of the tub
with the water coming down. I love water around me.
I have a walk in closet in the basement, I have used that as a crying room.
Now, I am afraid to do BIG crying, the kittens are affected by stuff like that.
I would hate them to feel badly unless something really bad, cry worthy was there.

My parents pulled me out of school as a kid sometimes to travel too.

I chose crying. That's usually my wake-up call. When the tears start welling, I realize I am 1) furious, 2) grieving 3) so low I can't move forward or 4) really, really hurt. My first reaction is to get it outside of me. Express it physically as healthfully as I can (exercise, t'ai chi, meditation, cleansing shower, punching a pillow, etc.). Cleansing ritual showers help. Casting a Circle, calling the Guardians, my Totems, the Lady and Lord to me, resting in their presences, as asking for help. I make talismans to wear. Or carry a charged stone for protection, emotional harmony, etc. I cast spells if need be. But first I have to recognize and stop just trying to rush through and keep functioning at all costs. To me just trying to keep trudging along is harmful. The trudging is often an indication that I am going in the wrong direction. If there is no synchronicity or flow, then I am trying to force myself to be or do something that is not right.
