Question about prayer...

I have been dating this guy for about a month and I have a small issue. He bows his head and says a silent prayer before he eats and I don't. I strongly believe in God and pray but just not before I eat. I wasn't raised to pray before eating a meal. I feel foolish even saying this, but I don't even know what to say. I like the idea of bowing my head and thanking God for my meal and would like to start doing this, but what do I say? Does anyone else pray before their meal? If so, I would appreciate it if you could tell me what you say.

Thanks!

How about 'thanks'? God could care less your words, it's your intent. Say anything you wish, just appreciate it, even a thought.

We sometimes say a prayer as a family before dinner, if the kids ask for it.

Neat that he does that. Just say amen. I thank
God for everything in my car on the way to work!!
You are not obligated to say anything, maybe just thank you
after he does the prayer. Keep it simple. Love, Leila

How about saying "thank you, God, for our family sharing another meal.

Sometimes I say a prayer in my own words, whatever comes to mind. Sometimes I say it silently inside myself. Sometimes I say a prayer I memorized as a child... It's all good, if you ask me. ;) I also pray in gratitude while I prepare a meal, thanking the plants and animals who gave their lives for my sustenance, as well as to the Goddess and God for all their blessings to us.

I think it is an excellent practice to get into, myself. It will enrich your spirit. :))
