"I Found My Power: It Was In My Words All Along

I've come to understand that my personal power is vast. It is not a well of mage-lightning like some fantasy novel. It is not dominion over people or places. It is not money, respect or the fear of my peers. It is not getting what I want or even what I need. My power is derived simply two ways: honor my words like the creators they are and take responsibility for my life and my impact on the world. And not too surprisingly, with this kind of power comes a deeply moving sense of compassion for the world and everything in it. I have learned that those two things, when embraced on a grand scale, flood me with overwhelming power, overwhelming compassion, and a sense of the interconnectedness of all things that can, and has, dropped me to my knees in amazement, grief, love and what I can only describe as touching divinity. It is like truly seeing the world exactly as the Goddess and God do: through the eyes of ever-committed and loving parents.

Changing The World

Consider this: we are all constantly changing the world. We are like stones dropped into still water. What we do and don’t do, what we say and don’t say, moves out from us into the world and impacts it in some way. Our existence, no matter if we’re a sweeping presence upon the face of the earth or a quiet nook in the corner, alters everything in some way.

...

Honor Your Word

Most Pagans who practice some kind of ritual understand the concept of using words to create. We speak the construction of a sacred space, our words invite deity, and we call for balance and speak our intent to the universe. Our prayers and spells are spoken and from them we create change. So it shouldn’t be too much of a leap to see the power of our words outside the circle. Step one is being humbled by the power of what you say.

...

Take Responsibility

Responsibility is a favorite Pagan concept. We take responsibility for our Path, our connection to deity and our affect on the world around us. We have no devil to blame, no sin we’re born with, and no evil to point to when things go wrong. I have found that to generate true compassion for everyone and everything, I have to take personal responsibility to the next level.

I understand that everything I do and everything I don’t do affects everything in the world.

...

Changing The World

I have given up the idea that I cannot change the world. I’ve also given up the idea that because I am not the next Ghandi or Martin Luther King it means that I have no positive impact on the world. I’ve also given up the idea that I couldn’t possibly be the next Ghandi or Martin Luther King because all they did was take responsibility for their impact on the world and stand by the creative power of their words. They took a stand and didn’t sway. And we are all fully capable of that. So what do we stand for? "

More to article ... please read the whole thing. I just posted excerpts from it! ;))

What is the power of your words? Do you believe you have power, that you create with your words?

Words can create reality in my world as positive thinking can.

I have had a power of words experience. My therapist gave me advice
on over eating. You say to yourself, I do so good on less, I love to weigh ---
I don't have to use food like I did for these emotional reasons---- when I was younger---I
can enjoy this food for 2 weeks and not eat it all at once.
I started to talk to myself and
seems the late night eating has melted. Hmmmmmmmmm. Love, Leila
