I wanted to start a thread of uplifting music that isn't usually thought of as such, of course you may list your fav worship or new age music here, I have some of that too. But another board I have visited has called it "glimpses of God". Their definition is popular, secular music that has some reference to spiritual ideas. U2 is a classic example. The very idea that music, no matter what kind, can bring you to a spiritual place, is the reason for my name...musicimprovedme. So I hope to hear about songs that do something for you and share more of my story with you.
For now I will throw a few out there. Yes is my fav group. Their music is incredible and it is just the kind of stuff I am talking about.
Martina McBride...Love's the Only House.
Garth Brooks...the Change, Standing Outside the Fire, We Shall Be Free
James Taylor...Shed a Little Light, Shower the People
Amy Grant...Somewhere Down the Road, All Right, Angels
These and many others, I will reply with more, have touched my life, and made me more aware of my values, and nourished my spirit.
What is some of your most uplifting music?
Struggle will be inevitable, but suffering is optional.
"Bear ye one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ." Gal. 6:2
"Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Matt. 25:40

I have a few ..
Sanctuary.
Love Lifted Me. (My dad always lead with this song in church)
You Raise me Up (Secular)
Live like you are dying.
I am always moved by the music of David Arkenstone, particularly Celtic Book of Days.
The first one that pops into my head is 'The Highwaymen' by the group of the same name.
Not sure if you'll have heard of all of these artists but my all time favourite would have to be "Angles" by Robbie Williams. He's the top solo artist in this country but I'm not sure he's been able to make it in America. This song launched his solo career when he split from the band he was in and was a huge, huge hit over here. I've told dh that if I go first I want it played really loudly at my funeral.
Another one is "Irish Son" by Brian McFadden. This one talks (or should that be sings!!) about his home town of Dublin and his religion.
"Make me whole again" by Atomic Kitten.
"If God was one of us" sorry can't remember the artist but think it might be someone Osborne.
If you know these songs and their artists please list them.
I have heard of David Arkerstone, he is very talented. Ever heard of Michael Jones? I LOVE the CD Magical Child, it is so coherent as an album that I always play the whole thing. I also like David Lanz, Christofori's Dream. Haunting, sounds like a music box.
I love the Highwaymen, too. Spooky song! Most of them are gone, I think only Willie is left. Have you ever heard of a song called Seven Spanish Angels? Very cool, this was Willie Nelson and Ray Charles.
Some more from me: More Garth, who can ever forget the RIVER?
John Denver, Rocky Mountain High
Gavin DeGraw, I Don't Wanna Be
I mentioned YES, they are so awesome to me, that I want their bubbly letters tattooed on me right over my heart in birthstone colors from my family members. Their albums The Ladder, Union, Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, and Talk are all incredible and still bring me to tears in places. I get up and dance around the room.
More dancing around the room: Hothouse Flowers, these guys are Irish blues pop, very polished and VERY talented. They sing a lot about nature and emotions, getting along. Their album Songs from the Rain is incredible, check out This is It (Your Soul).
Waterboys, more Irishmen. I think I love everything that Ireland ever gave me in terms of music. There
OMG, how could I forget about John Denver???
Rod Stewart, People Get Ready, Forever Young. I love Rod. And People Get Ready has been done by a LOT of artists, it is an old Curtis Mayfield song that has been embraced by many many...depending on whose rendition you like. My fav is Rod's. Aretha Franklin does it very well, too, and I have heard
Landslide, by Stevie Nicks.
