Ever heard of the Urantia Book??

We had a man speak at Unity this morning who is a believer in the Urantia Book.  I had never heard of it, and frankly, after listening to him, I was surprised that I hadn't.  At the risk of offending someone, I have to say I'm a sceptic.

Anyone know about this book?  (Not to be confused with the Urancha, a Wiccan/Pagan work.)

Interesting how synchronicity sometimes works.... LOL! :D Just tonight I was re-reading a Christmas newsletter from friends last year, and they mentioned this very book/"letters!" I hadn't gone investigating then. Too much going on. And the letter just came to light again tonight.

Here's a web site for more info:

http://urantiapapers.freeurantia.org/Masterpage.htm

Here's a couple more sites about things these people mentioned in their annual letter:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oahspe

http://www.alliesofhumanity.org/

I don't know if they're all related, but these people find them all connected in their interest.

Just thought I'd throw these sites out for you. ;) I have not fully looked at any of them as yet. Just had time to briefly skim and bookmark for later. I'll let you know more of my impression once I've had a chance to look at the links more closely. I have never heard of these ideas before, either.

I have the Urantia book and atended some readings ,in lake Forest Area, they are located in Chicago,Il ,I live in Zion,Il my wife and I atended some local meetings held about 25 miles from here at a persons home. There is a lot of interesting head knowledge ,however I prefer Ida Mingle which I spent over ten years to gather via different sources and expense. IN urantia they send information out regularly. One time receive a report on about 50 ideas of which about 28 of them so far has proven accurate by scientist or time. I recently wrote Chicago ,asked for a copy of the 50 predictions they could not locate and I did not throw it out but cannot find it here. With the Book etc there was a split off into two differenct growps with legal claims settled in Court as to rights. We also atended Unity headquarters , each local Unity is not under control of Headquarters and are on their own so we notice some differences in teaching at different local ones. The Unity Meaphysic Dictionary is very intesting and Iam unable to prove some interesting information I have about it that was provided by John Littlefield. can tell you more about both if you want. I think your on my email list. read post 4 again.

"That last link has the entire book on it for those who care to jump in! It's 2100 pages, and very difficult reading. I've heard it suggested you start at the end and read forward!"

I have gone back to that link several times. I have no patience with what I call "convoluted" language that is unclear and mystifying and confusing. It's not about intelligence, education, reading ability or thinking ability, IMO. Perhaps it is my own spiritual intuition warning me off? That this stuff is not for me. That's the reaction I am getting, anyway.

Just my PERSONAL reaction. For others, perhaps it is beneficial, and they will find it useful. Each person is different and finds useful spiritual tools as they go along. ;))
