I want to study Buddism .. *m

I was in Barnes and Noble last night and I got this book .. "When things fall apart" BY Pema Chodron. A nearby patron stated the title was very misleading.
I can't wait to read it! If there are any practicing buddists lurking, I would love to talk to you about this. Thanks.

Wow Cee Cee, that sounds very interesting!!
That's a book I bought for myself, too. It's worth the read. She is a good author on Buddhism and you might find other of her books of interest, too. A classic is "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" by Shunryu Suzuki. Another good description of Zen is "Everyday Zen" by Charlotte Joko Beck.

I just posted that website, also, LOL! Good resource! ;)) Years ago, I found a zendo in a nearby city (about 25 minutes away) and just showed up to their "those interested" evening and heard about what they teach and offer there. (I had spent the past year reading Alan Watts' books on Buddhism, as well as others, so I had prepared my interest before I was ready to act by seeking out a zendo or Temple). I signed up for the mediation course, then started going on Saturday mornings for meditation and then staying for the "Dharma Talk" by the Roshi. I stayed 3 years with them, learning sitting meditation the Zen way, and it is a tool that has stayed with me all these years later, although my spiritual path moved on to Wicca some years later.
So, if the temple offers an informational night, that's a good place to begin, and it's non-threatening as a newbie.
