A light exists in spring
Not present on the year
At any other period --
When March is scarcely here.

I'm Zen
I live really south and east
My favorite spring flower is apple blossoms, but my all time favorite flower is a summer flower and that's sweet peas. Sadly neither are grown in this zone. But I am finding many beautiful flowers down here that are new and exciting to me, and they're around all year long.

Anemones are some of my favorites, too. So pretty in the flower garden, and in an overflowing, multi-colored bouquet with greens. Envy you a little bit being from Canada. Beautiful there! (of course it's beautiful in its own way here where I live, too, but from what I've seen, Canada has more than its fair share of beauty.)

Hi, I'm Susan, and I live in South Texas. My favorite spring flower is jasmine, which is really a viny shrub. Also have a special fondness for wildflowers that grow in abundance on the sides of the roads here in the springtime. My favorite exotic is the creamy white gardenia. I've learned to grow, and appreciate all of them for the lovelies they are.

Nice to be back to visiting iVillage. I used to post at the now defunct 'Our Spiritual Journeys' board way back when, and recognize Leila, and M from there, and here in my heart, too. Is this now the one and only "spiritual" board at iVillage?

I'll be talkin' with ya,

Peace!

xxoox
Susan

(p.s...has anyone seen or heard from Karen, or Mj, who both used to post at OSJ, too? Mj went by the moniker "peace" something or other, and Karen, I don't know because she changed her moniker a few times, I think. My memory is not what it could be today!)

I don't think I've formally welcomed you Susan, and for that I apologize.

Hallo Susan
glad to make your acquaintance. had a little smile myself, as my own memory isn't any longer what it used to be.
Ah yes, those Jasmins, I have a small bush of them in a pot.. but am not good with the gardenias, which I just love. Actually? am lessening the indoor plants.. but am still having my orchids all over the place.
Summer is really my time, compared to winter! see? how green the grass is at the other side? As during my life here in Canada, I have read so much about the States and we are forever and a day, watching nature films which are also made in the US besides our side of the border.
Can remember a hikingtrip, which I did, all on my own, in Pennsylvanian hills, while being unaware that my hostess was watching me, going up and down them, across from her house, while having a coffee on her deck in front of her house..

It was like being back in the high hills, at the South-Eastern part of the Netherlands.. And I did that little hike at 4:00 am.. the mist was still hanging around, the sun was rising and the birds were very busy chattering. One thought that at time in the morning not another soul would be up and about, still I met a few and was pleased that God's lovely hill and nature, weren't waking up all by their little own self.

Am no longer that close to nature, have to drive actually and even the nature reserves around about me, aren't really all that save any longer, for me to be able to trod around in peace.
Texas? hihi, am back in my mind, as a teenager, sitting in that village in which I grew up in that hilly part in South-Eastern Netherlands, watching those movies, way back then.. Roy Rogers, his horse Trigger and his wife Dale Evans.... chasing after horse thieves. Ah! those were my days of teenagehood and dreaming of coming to this side of the big pond and seeing if I could be one of those people, who could spend time on a horse..

I did, in 1997, went into the back of the Rocky Mountains at one of our Western provinces, in Canada... So although late in life.. my teenagedream came true! Black Bears and dears and what not in the wilds as well!

Sorry to say, that I don't know the other gals you mentioned, but hope that you will keep an eye on this board, as the ladies are very knowledgeable and pleasant! and sooo interesting!
greets from that old brush

Hi, I'm Nikki, from the rainy Northwest... my favorite spring flower is the daffodil because it reminds me of the SUN which we won't see much of until July,,,,,,,
I also love the smell of lilac. We have 3 huge bushes and I keep tons of it in every room for the week or two they bloom and sniff them every time I go by a filled vase until I am drunk with the smell!!!

Happy March everyone!

Sure is coming in like a Lion here in the Midwest. It is snowing here and can expect about 6-8 inches. Can only hope it goes out like a Lamb!

My favorite spring flower's are tulips!! Have always loved them, I used to go to my grandma's house when I was little and she would let me take a bunch home everytime!!

Hey Everyone! I'm Robbyn and live in Florida...Hopefully not for long.....looking for somewhere that is NOT on the Gulf Coast because I am sick of seeing all the devistation these hurricanes are causing...But, I do have to say this time of year is beautiful. It's been upper 70's or lower 80's and the sun is shining brightly...always makes me in a better mood!
