Fear is a natural part of being human.  It might be something physical, emotional or spiritual, but unless you have transcended the mortal body, you are probably afraid of something.  What is it?

I am afraid of dark water, especially moving or deep water.  And I am afraid of heights, but I love to fly.  I've tried to meditate myself out of these fears, but nothing has worked, so I simply try to avoid them.  I'm not crazy about boating and I gave up swimming a long time ago!

I used to be afraid of speaking out in public, but now I really enjoy it, and I'm much better at accepting the existence of garden snakes in my yard!

My biggest fear is going into a "vegetative" state and nobody just letting me go. I know they say you don't know you are in that state, but I feel your soul is still there and I would rather just leave this plane and go to the other.
Of course, living in Florida, my other biggest fear is being attacked by an alligator, but that just goes with the territory!

The night before my Dad died, he was tranferred to the hospital care unit of the home where they lived.

I understand that, but after that whole Terry Schiavo incident, I don't want to put others under that kind of stress. It seems people go one way or another...keep them alive or know when it's time to go. That's why I did a living will because I know my parents would be like theirs. I don't want to see someone else suffer. I want to leave and let them mourn and get on with their lives...not linger around...bodywise...and cause more grief for the ones that love me. My fear is that I cause that sadness...not particularly being in the vegetative state.

You know, My dog is 14 years old and has arthritis and, don't laugh, a bad hemhorroid on his butt. He also gets fungal infections on his back that make me have to keep him shaved, etc....to treat. Although, he has these problems, I believe he isn't in that much pain because we treat him, but....I told my husband the other day that usually when these problems start with dogs they progressively get worse. I told him if he gets that bad, we are putting him to sleep because I feel I would rather remember him the way he was...not just keep him alive for selfish reasons. Why can we do that to a dog, but not a human? Do you think the person going through all of this wants to be that way...spiritually or physically????
You should start a poll!

I am fearful of the dark, use a night light in the kitchen, so it is not pitch dark in the bedroom at night. I don't like heights or closed in places. I get claustrophobic. The last life had its toll. Love, Leila

Tornadoes...never seen one, but fear them all the same.
I dream about them and often get trapped in those dreams because I lose sight that I'm even dreaming (ew!)
Let me see...what else? Oh..getting LOST! I can't find my way out of a wet paper bag! Navigation is NOT my strong point, so I panic if I feel I am lost or about to get lost (LOL). I can laugh about it now, because I have really been trying to overcome this fear by downloading maps from mapquest when I have to go somewhere I'm not familiar with.
It goes even farther though...if I'm someplace busy with other people and I get seperated, I will get that lost feeling and my heart is justa pounding! (LOL) I got lost as a child and thought it was over for me, of course the fact that my Mom was all wonky didn't make matters any better. (LOL)
I have pretty much overcome my fear of spiders and bees. I am allergic to both, but have learned to live with them. That doesn't mean that I won't kill them on impulse mind you...(ROTFL!)
