As of today it's officially Spring, even if Mother Nature hasn't got the memo yet.  ;-)  The Spring Equinox for many marks a day of balance and new beginnings, which got me thinking...   Do you feel more or less spiritual according to the seasons?  When do you feel more, and when less?

And on a completely unrelated note... Do you connect your spirituality in any way with your pets?  How so?

Great questions! :)

The seasons have spiritual significance for me, most definitely. Oestre/Spring Equinox is the signal for renewal, new beginnings, as the Earth becomes fertile in plant and animal life (Northern Hemisphere). Summer symbolizes bounty and fullness of growth and maturity. Fall is a time of harvest not just of nature, but of my own efforts in my life, and appreciating accomplishments and completions in my life. Winter is a time the Earth lies fallow. It is a time of slowing down, hibernation, introspection, a time to go within, to absorb, assimilate, regroup, refocus. Winter is a time to focus on the spiritual of this incarnation, and to remember as I approach the winter of my life, to prepare to return Home to my Goddess and God.

Pet/animals have great spiritual significance for me as well. :)) My Mika dog teaches me a Zen truth -- of living in the present moment, for that is all we truly have. To seek joy in the moment. Lessons in how to love, be a responsible leader for her, to feel love and respect for another living being. To become worthy of her trust and loyalty. To be a better human for her.

Wild animals and nature have their own messages and meanings, also. Just the other day, a ladybug attached herself to my t-shirt while Mika & I were on a hike. Ladybugs are symbols, totems, carrying messages of good luck and hope and possibility. There's been a crow hanging out and cawing at the top of a tall fir tree I can see fron my back porch. Crows are symbols of creation and spiritual strength, reminding us to look for possibilities to create within our lives, to work with Magic. ;))

Both these messengers were present for me, this week, the week of Oestre/Spring Equinox. And my Mika & I have been working closely together in renewed training together, strengthening our deep connection.

And I was feeling in a slump before I wrote this, LOL! :D

Yes, I feel more spiritual in the Spring - it's like a renewal each year.
