Are we one Spirit? Are we separate Spirits? How do you see yourself in relation to those around you?
I recently came across The Voice of Knowledge, by Don Miguel Ruiz (who also wrote The Four Agreements). He presents a view of self and one's journey that is so clear, I just hope I can do justice to it here!
He says (paraphrased) that we are all writing our own stories. No one else can know us, and we see those around us as outside of our story. Others see us as outside of their own story as well, so every time we interact with someone, we interpret them through our own experience, which is always tainted because we don't know their story. It follows that the only logical approach to getting along is through love and understanding that we are each writing our own story. Sometimes I have a role in another's or they in mine, but the journal is strictly mine.

”We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”

Or as Deepak Chopra (sorry if I butchered that spelling) says in "The Book of Secrets" ... paraphrasing ... everything you see, feel, hear, touch, taste is just manifested in you mind by chemical signals and electricity. Even when you look at stars it isn't real until it enters your brain so even the farthest reaches of the galaxy are created when they reach you and your mind, connecting us as all part of the same fabric of time and space.
Wow, that's deep. I had to read that part of his book about three times before I could get it to stick. LOL!
