Looking back to any point on your spiritual journey, what book or author had the most profound impact on you?  Was it a new idea or finally confirmation of something you already believed?  What was your reaction?

Mine would have to be "The Gnostic Gospels". The reason it influenced me was because:

1. I realized that Jesus and His teachings were taken in so many different ways at the dawn of Christianity and that made me question if the religion I grew up with was really what I personally wanted to believe.

2. I realized that, although the Bible is an accurate account of the life of Jesus and early Christianity, there was so much that hasn't been and/or is just being found that portrays that time differently.

3. It made me research many other religions and has enlightened me

4. I'm a HUGE history buff and anything new and interesting that is "discovered" makes me want to research even more and anyhting that expands your mind, to me, is worth it's weight in gold.

Although I have read MANY books that have opened my eyes and heart, I have to say that this book was what started my own path of spirituality. If it wasn't for this book, I would never have questioned my beliefs or the way I lived my life, so that's why I picked this book.

I've had the same sort of reaction over almost the same message.

I would say that the most influential book at the beginning of my journey was "Many Lives, Many Masters," by Dr. Brian Weiss.

How neat is that?!? ~ I just decided lastnight that I really need to pull out "Simple Abundance" again and flip through it, and then here's your post!!! *grin* Yes, I love her books, too!! Seems like I should get her books out and go through them, don't you agree? *wink*

Many Blessings, "M"

I like to read books about near-death experiences. Some of the thoughts and experiences people have are similar to the things I believe.

There is no way I can limit myself to one book ... or even one author.
