Day of the devil?

Much ado is being made by the media about tomorrow's date:  6/6/06.  Many believe that 666 is 'the sign of the Beast,' a symbol of the devil.  My boss laughed this morning that she'll be wearing her biggest crucifix and carrying a vial of holy water to work tomorrow.  You may have heard of the pregnant woman whose due date is tomorrow, who was trying to convince doctors to either induce her early or deliver her baby by c-section so it wouldn't be born on this 'horrible' date.

What's your reaction to tomorrow's date?  Do you believe there's anything symbolic or evil about the number 666?  Do you plan to do anything in recognition of the date tomorrow?

I can't say as I have any real feelings towards it one way or the other. I sometimes think that symbols (or numbers, or dates, etc.) are just symbols (or numbers, or dates, etc.) until we give them a meaning. The cross may be just a symbol to one person, but they may see an "Om" symbol as something sacred.

I don't know much about the number 666 other than that it's the mark of the beast mentioned in Revelations. I don't think I've ever heard (of) or read about a talk in my religion about it. If anything, it's just been read as part of the scriptures and not expounded upon.

I intend to live tomorrow as just another day. To me, it's just a number.

Seeing as John of Patmos was actually referring to Nero when he used the infamous #666, tomorrow does not worry me a bit, though I am a practicing Catholic.

No biggie to me ~ in fact w/ it being Summer I'm so off on my days that I'd forgotten!

However, I think it's really *tacky* that they re-made "The Omen" and tomorrow is the big release date! (JMHO)

I do know someone who freaks out over the number 'tho. If he's at a store and the total comes out to $6.66 he'll add a pack of gum or something else or give them $7.00 and tell them to "keep the change" and such ~ wonder how he'll respond to tomorrow? But it doesn't phase me at all!

Many Blessings, "M"

This is what I was taught as well, and why it doesn't hold any meaning (or threat) to me.

The only thing special about tomorrow is that it's voting day here. Otherwise, just another Tuesday.

There was a big article about the number itself-------- apparently, due to new technology, they are for the first time able to see the number more clearly, and it actually is a number that translates into 616 for us!
How do you like them apples!!!

I had forgotten where I read it, then I saw it again this morning- someone had posted it to the debate board...

Then, last night, DH read something that said the number is really 156.......he couldn't find it again, sorry, and people wonder why I don't take the bible literally!

That came from the discovery of a scroll included with a bunch or others that apparently had been discarded and were excavated in an ancient junkheap in the Middle East.
