Hello, everyone,

I was just thinking today that I really don't have many people in my circles who like to talk about spirituality and personal development. I thought I'd try to find some forum on iVillage as I really enjoy the mother's group I belong to. I hope to take part in some great discussions.

My background:

-Raised Roman Catholic (attended all-girls Catholic HS, and all womens Catholic College in LA)

-Currently Unitarian Universalist

-attended a Lutheran school from 2nd-6th grade

-Have had a few mytstical encounters

-I have a Wiccan minded husband, also actively a UU, also raised Catholic, who actively embraces and looks for the feminine.

-Intuitive (my husband says that most people don't tie this into spirituality, but for me it's not a separate thing!)

-Have studied: mythology, Jungian psychology, Joseph Campbell

-created a passover meal for my family when I was 12 because I thought it would be a cool thing to do!

-Love to talk about reincarnation and love past lives books like their thriller/biographies. :)

-"Life is Beautiful" rocked my world and helped me to focus my belief that a positive attitude is a powerful tool.

-Just watched a Ken Burns documentary on the Quakers - love 'em and fascinated by their no-sex rule for inclusion into their community.

-Wanted to be a nun when I grew up.

-I'm a minister through the ULC, but haven't done anything about it.

-Loved the DaVinci Code and read The Woman with the Alabaster Jar : Mary Magdalen and the Holy Grail by Margaret Starbird to get into the juicy details.

-was a personal life coach for 1.5 years.

-Love my Goddess Oracle deck and consult it regularly.

-Believe in both Mother and Father God aspects and want to foster a closer relationship to the Goddess.

-Have always felt that my work should have a spiritual component and have not yet found the right combination or path to go to feel more fulfilled.

-Named my two year-old son Cirdan, after an Elf King in LOTR who was a Bodhisattva.

Am I a spirituality geek or what! LOL

And a gold star to anyone who can figure out the reference in my screen name. ;)

Cheers,
Erica

Well Met, Erica, and Warm Greetings ~

*Wow* what a fabulous post ~ not sure where to start but I could talk for days about what all you've posted and look forward to getting a chance to!!

I've read "The Woman w/ The Alabaster Jar" and "Da Vinci Code" ~ (but not the other two . . . yet *wink*)

Took a spirituality quiz on-line one time and it said that my belief frame would place me as Quaker (would love to learn more about them).

I definetly believe in Feminie Devine.

I'm a *Tree-Hugger* (literally *grin*)!!

Lots, lots more but that'll serve as a brief synopsis for now.

Looking forward to seeing you around.

Many Blessings, "M"

P.S. would your screen name have anything to do w/ Egyptian kitties??

You got it Ginger Cookie. It's a reminder for me to be more playful. Bast is the cat goddess of play.

Hello Erica, I'm new here too. I have a pair of statues of Bastet in my dining room. I've always been intrigued with the Egyptians and their ideas of the afterlife.

And I've belonged to the Unitarian church for almost 30 years. The older I get the more I'm open to possibilities. Who knows what lies beyond?

love,
eldri
