Hello to all of you! I was over at the Christian family board but (along with anyone who is not a fundamentalist christian) was not welcome there. Hopefully this is a better fit.
I was raised a Luthlic or a Cathern - take your pick. I never felt comfortable in either place so many years ago I joined the Unitarian Universalist church and found my home. I consider myself a christian because I follow the teachings of Jesus but don't believe in a personal god or celestial boogyman who follows you around reading your mind.
I'm in my mid 50's, been married for 35 years with two married daughters, 34 and 32, and a son, 13. Our grandchildren are 13, 7, 5 and 1 and the happiest I have ever been in my life. We have owned our own business for almost 20 years and I do the bookkeeping. I have a lot of flexible time and volunteer whenever I can. We live on 15 acres and I have thousands of flowers planted out here - if there is a heaven I don't think it can be any more beautiful than this.
I'm always looking for possibilities and love hearing about new ideas about spirituality. I believe your mind is a very powerful thing and that we all have a lot more to learn.
love,
eldri

Greetings, eldri,
So glad you found this board (it's a bit of a mix of a lot of different beliefs, which I personally think is way cool) I hope/think you'll enjoy it here!
Your place and your family sound wonderful ~ you're quite blessed! Ahhhhh to look out upon thousands of flowers must be truly grand!!
Warm Welcome, "M"
Hi eldri, and welcome to Faith & Spirituality!
Thank you Barbara. I live in an area where most people assume you think like they do and when you spring something new on them they tend to jump back real quick - ;0)
My family is my life and I infused my beliefs or lack thereof on them probably to their detriment. I think aging is a freeing experience. It just doesn't matter anymore what people think of me so I can pretty much say what I want.
I think I will enjoy this place.
love,
eldri
Thank you. Yes, the flowers are wonderful. I take pictures of them all the time. I try to have them blooming from early spring through the fall and have really gone into perennials (it helps when you're in the business - LOL). I get orpahans too that the "boys" take out and dump in one of the greenhouses - I try and rescue them too. Surprisingly they usually do quite well.
My whole life I've questioned and generally driven people nuts while I look for the elusive "truth." As I get older I'm much more forgiving. Life is so short and people are so important.
love,
eldri
Hi Eldri, it's so nice to see you here!
