Here's an article about believing in angels...

Loud and Clear
Doreen Virtue shares four easy tips to increase your angel clarity.
'The Angels Want to Help You'
How can a skeptic learn to embrace angels? Plus, how to call on Archangel Michael for protection against negative energy.
Interview by Sherry Huang
At a young age Doreen Virtue was clairvoyant, capable of seeing angels and other metaphysical beings. While her parents didn't encourage or discourage her psychic ability, she became a loner after being terribly teased by her peers. For years, Doreen rebuffed any contact from angels until she had a life-changing experience in 1995. Her newest book, Angels 101, is a guide for beginners who want to learn how to contact their heavenly helpers. She is currently on a "Goddesses and Angels" tour teaching about the "power of the angelic realm."
What was the turning point that made you publicly embrace angels?
I wanted to help people, so I became a psychotherapist specializing in eating disorders. But all this time, the angels were telling me that I was really supposed to be teaching about spiritual healing. I kept arguing, "No, no, no."
Then, on July 15, 1995, came the turning point. I was getting ready to go to a church in Anaheim, when I heard this loud, male voice at my right ear say, "You better put the top up on your car or it will be stolen." At the time, I was driving a convertible. I said to the angels, "I don't have time," and the angels didn't really argue.
I drove and prayed for protection. As I pulled into the parking lot, I felt this really creepy energy, as if someone poured negative paint on me. I started praying even harder. I got out of the car, and then I heard this male voice behind me, screaming and cursing: "You better f-ing give me your car keys." I turned around and there was this angry-looking guy who was much shorter than me.
Doreen Virtue's Turning Point:
I saw this glimmer of fear in him, even though he had a gun and a knife. I thought, "He's afraid," and I suddenly felt so safe. Then, I heard the angel's voice again, outside my right ear, saying: "Scream with all your might, Doreen."
And this was the breakthrough moment, because I hadn't listened to my angels in so long. I finally obeyed them—I screamed like a cave woman. And this woman who was in the parking lot heard my scream, and she leaned on her car horn to attract the people in the church to come out. Their presence scared the man and his accomplice away. I was shaking, but I got down on my knees in this greasy, oily parking lot just to thank God that my life had been spared. I thanked God and the angels for saving me. "
(interview continues...)
So,do you believe in angels? If so, do they guide you? Any experiences you want to share? To me using the word angels comes from a different religious tradition, but if I substitute Totems or Guides, their "job" seems similar. What do you think? Are there beings/guides in your faith tradition?

Absolutely, I know there are beings in the spirit world guiding me whenever I ask.
"Now why do you think I am not in touch with them 24/7??!! "
Me, too, me, too! LOL! :D I am working on getting into the habit of having an ongoing mental converstion with my Goddess and God as I go through the day. I pray and face my altar before leaving the house, asking for protections from harm, evil or injury, for Mika & I as we go for a walk, as I head out to do errands, etc. I also include asking these protections for DH, DD, other family, etc., at the same time.
As I am out & about, I ask for protection from an erratic driver or one driving unsafely with a cell phone to their ear, etc. I thank the trees and the Goddess & God for the cooler weather or the shade. I thank flowers and Goddess and God for their beauty and scent.
I also go "off-line," though, getting too involved in the thoughts spinning in my head, and so forth. I try to live more in the present moment instead of having the tapes going in my head, separating me from my body and spirit. I tend to live too much "in my head" with intellectual stuff instead of being aware on all three levels. My walks with Mika are a kind of therapy. I can be walking along and catch myself *NOT* being with Mika and my body, and the environment, but just spinning and weaving thoughts in my head! So I breathe, look at Mika, the trees, the sky, feel the breeze, the sun. I have to constantly remind myself, though! :P

Wow.
Yes, daily zazen (sitting meditation) opens you to the present moment, quiets your mental chatter, and helps you be open to information you NEED, gives you a calm center from which clarity and creativity can come. I find similar results with my t'ai ch practice, which is mostly what I do now, which also circulates my energy/chi and helps with my bursitis and arthritic hip pain.. I do sitting meditation when I feel like I'm drowing in mental clutter and not really living.
Both practices are cumulative, with benefits building with time. These practices need to be daily, consistently, though, not hit or miss or occasionally.

OK- I think most everyone on this board will appreciate this---
Gypsy- this is your 444th post on this board, and 444 is, according to Doreen Virtue, the number of angels.........
onto the rest, yes, I believe in angels, yes, have had experiences, and also believe that some people are more comfortable talking to their Higher selves, their Guides, Buddha, Jesus, Ascended masters like Sai Baba, God/Goddess,,,,,, it doesn't really matter, it's the *intention* of getting in touch with the Source, with love, and it always works!
Ditto with what you said about meditation- no matter who you are trying to reach, I believe that frequent meditation is the most effective route to opening oneself up to love, intuition, and guidance!
Wow, this is a wonderful thread thusfar. It has really made me stop and think about a lot of things.
Do I believe in Angels? Well, Yes. (or something along those lines).
I remember one time when my youngest daughter was small she was playing and she had this habit of running and not watching where she was going (sound familiar at all, Moms? *wink*). She was running down a hill, laughing and playing, and there was a lamp-post (cast iron lamp post) right in the middle of her path. I knew I couldn't get to her, and she wasn't listening, my heart *stopped* . . . without missing a step, or ever looking up to see the post, she just moved over a few feet (as if someone/something gently moved her over) and kept right on running totally oblivious to what almost happened . . . . *sigh*
And there have been many times I've *felt* (more than heard) a guiding voice.
This thread has really made me wonder 'tho ~ why don't I ask for guidance more ~ why don't I try to listen more??? I think others have said it well ~ too often I have that "I can do this myself " sort of a attitude . . . and other times maybe I do "hear" but I think it's just part of the clutter in my mind . . . lately I think it has a lot to do with my Trust (or rather mistrust) issues . . . . I don't trust my own instincts anymore.
Interestingly I have just returned to meditating this week (after years away). Perhaps it'll open *the channels* again . . . ?!?!
I do Hope so! I've been outta sync for too long now . . . . . .
Many Blessings, "M"
I started reading Sonia Choquette's "Ask Your Guides" last week. Four chapters of this book covers guardian angels, archangels and the ministry of angels. She teaches how to get in touch with the angels as a requirement to preparing oneself to meet our spirit guides. Sonia is such a gifted woman, I eagerly anticipate the results from these exercises.
I've always believed in angels even when I had no personal experiences to draw from. One experience I clearly remember is shopping in a downtown mall & dropping my wallet in a most unusual place -- in the plexiglass partitions between the up escalator and the down escalator. It slipped out of my hand, rolled down and got stuck at the base -- I've never done this before. It sounds so trivial that an angel would appear to help me out in this situation. Well I had a panic attack at the helpless thought of having to abandon my wallet & all its contents in this mall. I hit the nearest "Stop" button. As I clumsily groped at my wallet only a couple inches away from my grasp, a swift moving person reached in front of me, pulled out the wallet & handed it to me -- he didn't look at me or say anything to me. I was relieved and puzzled at the same time. So I thought, "Wow, the security is fantastic at this mall! They must have cameras all over this place." He kept moving very quickly through the crowd, then disappeared. I had a brief glance of him from a distance -- he was very slender, tall, dark skinned, and he wore a flowing white cotton shirt and white cotton pants -- which was odd since it was mid-winter & I was wearing a heavy winter coat and boots that day. It's also strange that no one else was riding the escalators at that time -- so no one witnessed what had happened. Only months after while I was reading an article about angels, which said angels often wear white, it clicked in my mind that he must've been an angel. That would explain how he knew exactly what to do, how quickly he responded, and then vanished. Just wanted to share this here with you.

Wow!!!
I definitely believe in them, that God sends
his "ministering" angels to help us in certain
situations. When I need help I pray to God
and I let him summon his helpers.
I know he is happy being in control of that
department.
Hugs,
Cindy

My most memorable "angel" was an old French farmer who saved my life when I was abducted.
