Here's an article about believing in angels...

from the beginning of the interview:
Loud and Clear

Doreen Virtue shares four easy tips to increase your angel clarity.

'The Angels Want to Help You'
How can a skeptic learn to embrace angels? Plus, how to call on Archangel Michael for protection against negative energy.

Interview by Sherry Huang

At a young age Doreen Virtue was clairvoyant, capable of seeing angels and other metaphysical beings. While her parents didn't encourage or discourage her psychic ability, she became a loner after being terribly teased by her peers. For years, Doreen rebuffed any contact from angels until she had a life-changing experience in 1995. Her newest book, Angels 101, is a guide for beginners who want to learn how to contact their heavenly helpers. She is currently on a "Goddesses and Angels" tour teaching about the "power of the angelic realm."

What was the turning point that made you publicly embrace angels?

I wanted to help people, so I became a psychotherapist specializing in eating disorders. But all this time, the angels were telling me that I was really supposed to be teaching about spiritual healing. I kept arguing, "No, no, no."

Then, on July 15, 1995, came the turning point. I was getting ready to go to a church in Anaheim, when I heard this loud, male voice at my right ear say, "You better put the top up on your car or it will be stolen." At the time, I was driving a convertible. I said to the angels, "I don't have time," and the angels didn't really argue.

I drove and prayed for protection. As I pulled into the parking lot, I felt this really creepy energy, as if someone poured negative paint on me. I started praying even harder. I got out of the car, and then I heard this male voice behind me, screaming and cursing: "You better f-ing give me your car keys." I turned around and there was this angry-looking guy who was much shorter than me.

Doreen Virtue's Turning Point:

I saw this glimmer of fear in him, even though he had a gun and a knife. I thought, "He's afraid," and I suddenly felt so safe. Then, I heard the angel's voice again, outside my right ear, saying: "Scream with all your might, Doreen."

And this was the breakthrough moment, because I hadn't listened to my angels in so long. I finally obeyed them—I screamed like a cave woman. And this woman who was in the parking lot heard my scream, and she leaned on her car horn to attract the people in the church to come out. Their presence scared the man and his accomplice away. I was shaking, but I got down on my knees in this greasy, oily parking lot just to thank God that my life had been spared. I thanked God and the angels for saving me. "

(interview continues...)

So,do you believe in angels? If so, do they guide you? Any experiences you want to share? To me using the word angels comes from a different religious tradition, but if I substitute Totems or Guides, their "job" seems similar. What do you think? Are there beings/guides in your faith tradition?

*** You bet I do :)

If so, do they guide you?
*** Yes they do, when I pay attention...

Any experiences you want to share?
*** There are several (hundred...LOL) Most often, I get synchronicities...I take them as signs that I should pay better attention to my surroundings.
Once when I was driving in the rain, it started raining SO hard I couldn't see. I decided to pull over, but couldn't tell where the road was. I turned on my hazzard lights and I started praying outloud. All of a sudden there was this bright light in front of my car. I thought surely it must be an 18 wheeler or something. I couldn't really see any definition due to the hard rain. I wasn't sure what to do so I just followed it. I kept feeling this voice (not hearing it, just knowing it was there...kwim?) it told me not to be afraid. So I followed this light and when it vanished, I stopped my car. I still couldn't see anything, it was as if the windows were painted white, so strange. And loud, the rain was so loud. SO I sat there, still praying and just as quickly as the rain started, it stopped.
I was sitting in a WalMart parking lot IN a parking space just off the road! As were several other drivers, cars still running. It took my breath away I tell ya! I started looking around for the 18 wheeler that I followed and there wasn't a big truck to be seen anywhere.
Of course I wasn't going to ask anyone else sitting in lot for fear they would think I had lost my mind (LOL). I just sat there for a bit and thanked God!
I know it was an Angel that helped me that day, and many other days as well.

To me using the word angels comes from a different religious tradition, but if I substitute Totems or Guides, their "job" seems similar. What do you think?
***I agree. I call them Angels because that is what I learned to call them and I really like the word Angel...its pleasing to me and comforting as well. I will also call them Guides or even plainly Spirit.

Are there beings/guides in your faith tradition?
*** Yes, I was raised RC, and have switched to different Christian Faith based religions.

I am enjoying this thread. I have an angel pin that was made for me, it is in the car. Always seems that I look up in time when I get distracted or am looking for a lipstick while driving (:- ) I have not had the experiences that were mentioned. maybe i have had them before my beliefs kicked in. For several years I lived a wild life style that I am lucky to be alive. something had to be watching out for me. Once I got a feeling to get out of the street and ran into the next office and stayed there for a while. i never saw a robber or " bad" man but knew there was someone that was going to hurt me. I am not the paranoid type. I have only had this experience once.
I know there is a multitude of help around me, sometimes synchronicity is very clear, sometimes I know the help is there but I can't feel anything. Sometimes I get into my fears and feel alone. Like I forget all the help we have around us all the time. Love, Leila
