How to live if no faith...

I have been a firm Catholic ever since little. That was my own choice, somehow I found a way to it since no one in my family went to church. It was nice in one way, so fulfilling being a part of that society and believing God loves me endlessly, he's always there to help and so on.
The other side of story was so much illogical belief like going to hell for one mortal sin and so on and so on...
Little by little, exploring and questioning, I came to a point where I stopped believing. Not just in Catholic church but in God himself. Better to say, seeing all the stuff in the world and problems that we all face, how there so much pain and hurt and no religion gave me answer why it all happens, I stopped believing God as in something magnificent, big, and endlessly loving.
Now I live empty, faithlessly, like a shell without nothing in it. This life ain't so pretty any more. Sure, everything goes well for me, but I feel deep inside that nothing fulfills me.
People, what experiences do you have?
How to regain my faith?
I miss believing that this whole life really has a purpose. I miss someone to have to follow. And above all I miss God.

living without faith is really hard indeed I've been there a couple of years. You really need to meditate on your life, as it is now, and what makes you feel so empty.

If you cannot consider a word without God, you should welcome Him by your side for he'll always be there, the divine has some strange way to manifest Himself sometime. there are time when everything goes so wrong in our life and we feel so lost and confuse that we really feel alone...and heck what God would want us unhappy, this happens when we stop looking at the big picture, as if just because the tree has a dea branch it means the rest of the tree is dea and ugly too. We all have to down pahses in life, right now you are lost and confuse most probably because you cannot follow a guide through those down time.

You know God don't really need a fancy prayer or a big protocol, in down time you can always talk to him...just as you would talk to a friend don't feel stupid about talking to him in the privacy of your home, you might not get immediate answers, but he is there to listen when you need to empty your soul from the burden of a hard day, and once you feel more confortable you might hear him relpy to you. Strat small, don't try to define yourself withi n a pre-set group now, just re-bond with god, then find out about what feels confortable for you, maybe you feel better believing in some aspect of christianity, but also in some of buddhism or anything, you can mix and match it is allowed, you can creat your own faith...faith is what makes us feel less empty in life, and it can have any form we want it to have to support us. Finding what works for you may take time, but don't give up if you don't see imediate results. Step by step and one day at the time is the surest way.

Yes, I often talk to him. In fact I talk to him like to a friend. Sometimes it's angrily, sometimes desperately, sometimes crying my guts out... Luckly I live alone so I always talk to him out loud. :)

I'll try to meditate over it. And I already created my own "religion". Mostly it involves God who I believe exists but for some reason he doesn't answer. I still have to figure that out.

And most important, which I have never and I think I will never, it is give up on him. I need him and I'll bother him to reveal himself to me until he says ok, enough, I'll do it and give her what she wants :))))

Sunny,

The tone of your posts has been that you have no faith, but I would propose to you that if that were true, you wouldn't be posting on this board.

When God is seemingly "silent", he is there but giving
you a chance to work your faith out, to be patient with
him as he is always patient with us, to praise and worship
him during that "silence"...and the results for not giving up
on him are worth it!

Case in point:

Bink,

Don't worry, I won't give up on him. And yes, I'm posting here more for a reason of being desperate cause I feel abandoned by him then for a reason that I don't have faith at all.

I'm not telling God what he should do. I'm just telling everyone what I feel that I need. And I need him to touch me cause I feel abandoned.

But thanks for your support. I will try to Be still.... :)

Wow, what a beautiful story! I'm so glad your mom is ok now. That is a miracle indeed. :)

I'll just try to look on the bright side. Try is the key word.

God is probably giving you signs and support all along,

He works in mysterious ways and often give subtles signs we fail to recognize. You know maybe it was He who guided you to this very message board so you could get support and encouraging words.

Cyn, so glad to see you here! I really miss
the expat board and will try to get there
this week. Congrats again for you and
Siddartha : )

I agree with you that God works in mysterious ways.
And I belive that Sunny was lead to this board
to be helped by everyone. It does not matter our
different paths and beliefs...God can take anything
or anyone in this world and use it to accomplish
his purposes, even if we do not realize what his
purpose is yet or even if we do not know or feel
that he is working through us.

Faith is an amazing thing : )

Again, nice to see you here!

Hugs,
