QOTW: Creation stories

I think we're all familiar with the Christian story of God creating the earth and heavens in a week. Other religions have their stories as well, though I'm embarrassed to say I'm not familiar with any of them. I'm curious what people actually believe, whether it follows a religious story or not. I personally haven't fully made up my mind.
How do you believe the earth was formed?

Interesting question!!
~~I've never been able to get my mind on board the "it's all about us" train of thought (even as a child I believed there was more)!! And the more I learn about the vastness of the Universe the less I believe that "we are it"!!!
And perhaps this is another train of thought altogether, but if Earth had been "visited" MANY years ago it'd explain *a lot* in my mind!!
But as to the "why" it all came into being ~ I've no clue . . . .

Oh Goodness!
I think this is an excellent question too. I saw this quote today which made me think of this thread: "Maybe this world is another planet's hell" by Aldous Huxley.

I do believe in the theory of evolution and all that. Science is fact to me. I also believe in a higher power too. I think our minds just cannot grasp the vasteness of how or why the earth or humans were created. It is a very interesting topic, it intrigues me.
I recieved this awesome email the other day...I wish I could post it, maybe someone else can... Basically it shows comparison of the size of earth to other planets, then it compares the size of our sun to other stars that scientists have found. It is quite amazing how small our planet is, and to think of how many other planets there might be out there.

In the beginning WOMAN was God! It is through woman that life is brought forth so why should God be thought of as The Goddess?
There is an alternative creation story with the snake being the of life (because it can shed it's skin and start life again, in classical mythology). According to this version the snake brings life to Adam (through Eve) and then they begin life as human beings, into the relm of opposits, man woman, good evil etc. Before the assent of humanity Adam and Eve lived as other animals ("the were naked but felt no shame").
Interesting!
