QOTW: Creation stories

I think we're all familiar with the Christian story of God creating the earth and heavens in a week. Other religions have their stories as well, though I'm embarrassed to say I'm not familiar with any of them. I'm curious what people actually believe, whether it follows a religious story or not. I personally haven't fully made up my mind.
How do you believe the earth was formed?

"Maybe this world is another planet's hell" by Aldous Huxley.
That's actually one of my all time favorite quotes.

I'm with the camp that can't understand why evolutionist and creationists can't find common ground. I believe there may have been a creator or creators, but evolution directed the progress of life on this and other planets. I haven't a clue why we're here, but I believe we'll find the reason in another time and place.
My personal favorite creation stories
Thank you, Gypsy.
I have a real hard time swallowing the biblical creation story (or any biblical story, for that matter)...but that's exactly what my faith expects me to do. I was raised Catholic.
"Thank you, Gypsy.
Wow!!!
Thank you for your interest in the subject. It comes from Joseph Campbell's Masks of God books(vol. Primative Mythology). I can't remember if it was in the book or in one his PBS programs.

Ginger Cookie,
I have heard of Holy Blood Holy Grail. It's on my list of the first one hundred thousand books to read. I do think it would be interesting to see the Christian religions would react it it were found to be true.
After I graduated fron high school I tried to be pius christian but after a while things just didn't seem to fit. I started to explore other reasons to explain religion.
Then I ran across Joseph Campbell. I read many of his books as well as others books on mythology and religion.
I still feal a need to find explanations for many questions. This is going to be a long term project.
