Some concern....

I see a throat specialist on Monday afternoon about a possible tumor on my vocal chords. I've been reduced to whispering all week and am pretty worn out by the effort to communicate. It's probably just a nodule that can be easily removed with surgery.
I am a bit concerned about it because I smoked for 27 years, although I quit 16+ years ago. It would be a real kick in the butt if it were still affecting me so long afterwards! If you are still smoking, consider quitting!
Your healing vibes and thoughts are appreciated.

Prayers and healing vibes coming! I quit smoking in 1980. I worry, too, that now that I am older, that there will be a price to be paid... and I pray not every day. <:=O I pray the same for you. I agree --> QUIT SMOKING or DON'T START!!!!

Well, it's not a tumor or growth, however, the muscle tissue around my vocal cords is enlarged and seems to be trying to take over control.
Yikes!
Barb, I sure hope the therapy works
quickly. I'd have a hard time keeping
silent as well.

The more I learn about Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD), the more things fall into place for me!
Silence??? Ewww that is NOT a thing for me accorded to DH I'm the biggest talk machine on Earth LOL and my mom often said when i was a kid I was like Juke Box, you put a quarter in and it goes on forever.
Interesting about the asthma like symptom, is there a way to double check things? It would be stupid to take asthma meds if you don't have asthma in the first place especially since cortecosteroids in the inhaled form can put a strain on vocal chords as well.
I hope things get sort out for you soon.
Hugs
